Noob thinking of getting into CSS

Tip: aim for the head, and always wait for the other guy to appear first. Sit back and be patient. Also, shoot automatic weapons in small bursts when they're long range. Holding the trigger is fine when they're right in front of you. (the enemy, that is)

In console, enter.

cl_cmdrate 100

cl_updaterate 100

rate 25000

After each of those, press enter. Your rates are now correct and you should register well in 100 tick servers and under.

Adjust your sensitivity till you find the sweet spot. Also adjust the crosshair to the appropriate size. Try cl_crosshairscale 2000 or cl_crosshairscale 3000 (my fav).

You may also want to invest in a nice gamer oriented mouse pad and or mouse with some aftermarket mouse feet. This actually helps your skill.

I hope I helped you out a bit.

This is all good advice tbh :)

You dont have to shell out £40 to get a good mouse. I used to have a Razer diamondback for £30 but I got bored after a year or 2 and decided to try this one! After a week, I've got used to it and I popped on just now after a few days of no CSS - still a bit of nice owning going on!

With sensitivity, make sure that you have enough room to make 1 full 360 turn. You want to be able to fine aim, so don't have sensitivity too high. I trained up on CSS on the map cs_office - great fun map. Try the shottie in there for some easy kills :p

That server where you upgrade guns for the more you kill, and steal levels with knife kills is well fun :) Had a good today, although done terrible, think I got about 8 kills and 30 deaths and around gun #3 :P Great fun however, although all my textures were yellow blocks with stuff like "Wall, 128x128" written on it

lol yea as ham said that is what the map is meant to look like, theyre designed to make aiming as simple as possible to help improve your skills.
