"No Shut Down" warning after 4sec. power off delay

This afternoon my computer froze up so i had to manually shut it down with the power button. I have it set in BIOS for a 4sec. delay. When I held it down, after 4sec the "No shut down" warning came on my LCD and the compressor kept running. I have to flip the PSU switch the kill the computer. Tried it again after it booted back up, same thing. Any ideas what could cause this?

I think it's just cause the power switch goes through the mach controller board and the mach is not comptible with holding it for 4s. So when you hold it for 4s it just sends a short "press" signal, and the computer won't respond if it's frozen so the mach tells you that it won't shut down. Basically you have to use the reset button or turn it off via the psu. I don't know but there might be some firmware which lets you hold down power.

Never had a problem with the 4sec delay on my other mobo. Just swapped it out for a higher Vcore setting.

You were probably lucky that you changed motehrboards.

The time delay for the mach after shut-down is a safety precaution to enble the gas to settle back inthe compressor before restart - to prevent restarts from occuring during the pressuring down of the system AFAIK.

False starts are short cut, but doing this too much will break the unit or cause it to fail long before the lifespan 'should' be.

If you dont like waiting, try pressing reset instead as that wont send a signal to the mach to power down (instigiatiing the start-up timer).
