NH-D14 RAM Ideas?

This is my first post on OC3D and I'll save intros and pics for later, but I got an NH-D14 recently and thought it was about time to replace my horrible 1333MHz RAM to be able to get a base clock of 200. I'm looking for RAM that can reach 2000MHz and preferably having a 3x4GB kit, btw I don't want Sandy memory as I'm on X58

. I was looking at Mushkin Radioactive, but I don't seem to be able to buy any easily where I live, so I've decided to look for other suggestions, any would be greatly appreciated

TBH dude you are probably better off just getting a decent 2000 kit because 1600 to 2000 is a big step. Most quality kits will do it but theres always the silicone lottery to factor in. Also getting a 4GB stick to run at 2000 is also a massive ask matey.

Buy a 1600 or 2000 kit and run it @ rated.

Any RAM you would personally recommend, or am I stuck on having to try import Mushkin?

The low profile Corsair Vengenace will fit nicely under the D14, and is worth a look at.

I believe G.Skill has a RipJawsX that's rated at 2133MHz, but the timings are pretty loose. You may have to play around with it or drop the RAM's frequency to 2000 and see if you can get tigther timings.

Kingston has the HyperX and Genesis series of RAM that will also fit under the D14, and also rated for 1600 - 1866MHz and decent CL9 timings I believe.

Just got a pair 8gb of HyperX Blu dirt cheap (20£) and they will easily fit under the D14

I just had a look at the Ripjaws X and they only come in 2x4gb kits as dual channel, would that be fine or should I look elsewhere or buy multiples? Sorry I really am quite a noob when it comes to RAM :\ Btw, ttl, when you say you're active on the forums, you really are

Yup, you'll be fine with a 2x4GB kit. There's nothing to worry about. Any of the 2x4GB RipJaws X kits in the 1600 - 2133MHz range will be very decent.

Please forgive my forgetfulness. Since you're running a X58 system, a 3x2GB kit is preferable since triple channel memory is supported. If you think you'll need more RAM, 3x4GB kits are available as well.

Since Ripjaws x 2133 don't come in 3x2GB or 3x4GB kits, should I just go with Ripjaws 3x4GB 1600 or something like Corsair Dominator 1600 3x2GB and take the top part of the heatsink off? Sorry for asking so many questions :\

No worries. If you can find a 3x4GB kit running at 1600MHz, that will be fantastic. Kingston HyperX has some great selections as well. HyperX RAM all use the RAM-height heatsinks so you won't have any compatibility issues with them under the D14. Since DDR3 memory doesn't get hot at all, there's nothing for you to worry about.
