New personal rig 2013

Hey all. Like I said in my intro post, I've decided to post a pic of my newly finished (about 2 weeks ago) personal rig. I don't have any pics of the build in-progress, as I was too excited to get it all put together .

Specs:
  • AMD FX-8150 3.6 GHz, OC to 3.87 w/ included AMD (Asetek) sealed-loop liquid cooler (Fans in the picture are Cooler Master Sickle Flow blue LED ones, I've since changed them out for the stock fans that came with the cooler, as the CMs were too loud)
  • MSI 990FXA-GD80v2 motherboard
  • 8 gigs (2x4g DIMMs) of Kingston HyperX Black Edition 1600MHz RAM
  • Sapphire Vapor-X AMD Radeon 7770 GHz Edition video card
  • WD Caviar Blue 500gb HDD
  • SeaSonic X Series 650w Fully Modular PSU
  • Zalman Z12 Plus Mid Tower case

Finished, with the side panel off (please excuse the crap-tastic lighting, it was nighttime when I got finished):

CPU-Z/GPU-Z screenies just for the heck of it

Would love to hear what y'all think (bear in mind that this is only the second ever rig I've built, so there are probably some noob mistakes. I think I did well :D).

Ha, found it!

Looking good, but I would clean up those cables if it was mine (yeah, I have a little cable-clutter phobia). Specifically:
  • hide the cables crossing the cutouts so that they're actually hidden
  • arrange the cables coming out of the PSU a bit more neatly.

Also, I might consider taking the red sticker off the CPU block. Just doesn't quite fit the M/B's beautiful blue (I have an MSI Z77A-GD65, they're really pretty boards these blue MSIs :)).

But aside from that, really nice. As somebody who grew up on AMD (the glorious days of the mighty Athlon :) ) I always get a bit nostalgic when I see an AMD rig (running Intel these days since I need the raw computing power for BOINC).

good looking rig with an awesome psu and if you do what alpenwasser said :), it will even better.
And consider an ssd (an samsung 840 or 840 pro) it will make your pc even better :)

Yeah I've been meaning to tidy up the cables a bit, but there's not too much more I can do atm. I think I will run the DVD drive (yes, much to y'all's concern, I still run one of those  ) cables out through one of those oval cutouts in the empty 5.25 bay below it, to hide those a bit better. Also, I'll probably bundle the cables coming out of the PSU and zip tie them down behind the mobo tray, to help that look a bit cleaner.

As for the AMD FX logo on the block, I think it's like printed on the actual plastic (not to mention the FX in the logo lights up, looks pretty cool to me), so I'd have to paint over it or get some vinyl film. Thanks though :)

Thanks! I love the PSU. I thought Corsair was the only company to have a PSU with an all black 24-pin, until I found this SeaSonic unit thanks to a friend.

As for the SSD, I might upgrade in the future, but it wasn't in the cards at the time I ordered all the parts. This was an $850 USD budget build :).

Just wondering, what temps do you get at idle and full load with that cooler?

Haven't tested full load yet, but on idle I get around 37-40 C. (That's with the fans on the Silent profile in the software that comes with the cooler. I can't even hear them running, its amazing lol)

Thanks all for looking :D!

Well that makes things a bit... tricky ;). But glowing logos are usually quite nice.

If/When you get the money, that is definitely an upgrade I can recommend. It really makes a big difference. But all in good time :)

Thanks for the tips, Alpen. I'll probably tidy up the cabling and take some new pics (and a pic of it running, it glows just the right about of blue and looks pretty sweet.) sometime this week. I'm working this evening, or else I would do it today.

Cheers! :beerchug:
