new mouse, keyboard, .....

I need some recommendations for a new mouse and keyboard as i am needing to change the ones i currently have. They are just plain nothing fancy accessories(standard 3 button optical mouse and wired keyboard) that i am needing to get rid of with my old rig, so im looking for soehting bit better to go with my new rig.

Things i do with my computer are edit pictures using photoshop (but this is mostly keyboard related as i have a tablet) and gaming (rpgs, mmo, strategy, shooters)

Trying to not spend too much but that does not mean im after budget stuff.

Logitech K360 My fave keyboard out there xD

If you wanna really good and cheap gaming mouse get the logitech mx518 old as hell now but still one of the best out there, best one i have owned and i have owned a RAT9 and a Razer Mamba <--- Overpriced crap btw.

If you like the look of the g9x go for it but get the g9 as its a much better lazer, but an older mouse so is nails to find.

i would recommend the steelseries 6gv2. it costs about 70 eur, but its certainly higher quality than the other recommendations so far. just be aware that it doesnt have any macro keys etc but the mechanical design largely makes up for it imho.

As Jasonlant already said, the mx 518 is a very good choice if you're looking not to spend too much. otherwise my favorite and probably one of the best mice for shooters(i dont have any experience with mmo mice) out there is the steelseries xai. no fancy looks like razer mice but works a million times better. keep in mind that if you dont play games that require very precise aiming (like quake or cs) or mostly play mmo's you might be better off with a cheaper or different kind of mouse.

My logitech g510 is brilliant. And the Razer DeathAdder I'm using is equally awesome

i liked the look of the deathadder but im torn between that, and a couple ive seen; the G500 and the CM sentinal advance.

and the keyboard i like the look and function of the g510 but i think its a little too pricey for me.

(currently looking at reviews for the ones mentioned)

The Mionix Zibal 60 is a great keyboard. My friend has one, which I've tried out. The keys feel great.

I have a Steelseries Kinzu and Ikari Laser. They're nice and comfortable as well.

The deathadder is brilliant mouse IMO and the microsoft X4 sidewinder is a great keyboard for the price

Yep I agree. The Sidewinder X4 is brilliant for the price and the functionality it provides. It's one of the highest rated "Gaming" keyboards out there.

got a death adder myself, great mouse. i feel so relieved when you guys here recommend stuff that i own. at least i know im buying the right gear. Got a 6Gv2 keyboard and its rock solid

I saw a review for that keyboard and it seemed a sturdy mechanical one but i didnt think it was for me. its not that it was plain, it was just that it looks too much like my current dell keyboard apart from the buttons had more depth to them and I would like something that had a few extra keys to assign combinations or macros to so that i dont have to stop when edittng pictures and gaming.

I was wondering, is the G110 is just like the g510 but without 6 G-keys and no screen?

The G110 is also a very keyboard. From the specifications it looks like it has less G buttons and no screen, other than that it is pretty much the same

It really depends on what you want specifically. Typical answer would be to look at what Razer, SteelSeries, and Logitech has to offer. You can stop there, disregard the rest of what I have to say,or if you want to get something more fitting, then you have to get some specific information.

Is there anything you're looking for specifically?

Are ergonomics important to you? If so, then how important and how do you personally use the equipment?

Are aesthetics important? If so, then how important and what look are you going for?

How much are you willing to spend for this?

I have the g110 and personally if I were to decide to choose that or another keyboard, then I would choose something else because I personally don't like it and that just for me. I don't have the g510 so I can't compare, but I would imagine that it would be essentially the same like you said.

In your case you might benefit from the extra keys and cost from those Logitech keyboards. There exist mechanical keyboards like the corsair k90 keyboard where you still have the mechanical switches with the extra keys, but the cost is fairly high.

Im after a keyboard that ultimately follows this order of importance; Function> aesthetics> ergonomics. Function to me is the most important with aesthetics a close second. Most important thing for me is being able to assign keystrokes to another key so i can access them quickly. Looks-wise, i would like backlighting but beyond that i am not too fussy. I'd of course like to get one that would suit my rig, but i dont hold my breath on a white keyboard (that and the fact that white would get mucked up very quickly)

I'm not too worried about it being mechanical and budget wise im looking to sort both keyboard and mouse out for on the low side of £100. im having a look at whats on scan and aria to see if there are any others that would be good for me

Do you want to be able to program the standard keys? Or a set of designated macro keys? If it is the latter, again the MS Sidewinder X4 would be your best bet with 18 macro keys, backlit and very sturdy.

ok just to be certainas ive not worked with them before, macro keys are just keys you assign a command to right? (eg i could config one to do ctrl+Alt+Z for a rapid undo in PS right?) if so then thats what i want to do

(still looking through what places have atm but im likely to go with the deathadder. just a shame its only in blue)

Yes, that's what it means. The Logitech keyboard with all the macro keys would suit you, I can't think of any white ones off the top of my head(I'm not sure it exists). The ones that others have mentioned here are nice options too.

The deathadder is a nice mouse from what I hear, but I have never owned it so I can't make an opinion on that.

If you like more buttons on your mouse, then you should look at other mice like the razer naga for example. There are many mice like this so you should look around and see what you like. Others can mention some other mice besides the razer naga, but I own this mouse so I can only give my opinion on this.

The razer naga fits fairly well in my hand, but I can see how the design can be horrible for certain people so I suggest that you go to a local store, if you can, to try it out. It's a medium sized mouse, not huge or too small and it's not very heavy or too light. The aesthetics can be a hit or a miss, google some real life pictures of them to judge for yourself. The software is pretty nice to work with, but razer is redesigning to whole thing into what they are calling "Razer Synapse 2.0" I got into the beta testing, but I haven't found time to actually get into testing it so I can't give you a definite answer on that. The naga I have had a manufacturing imperfection where the back part of the mouse, where the two plastic parts come together, scratches my mouse pad. I had to file it down a little bit, but it was fine after that. From what I hear and understand is that the mouse can be good for photoshop. It is good for mmos, I play them with either a claw or palm grip. I think it is terrible for shooters and rts because I have a claw grip when I play those games and the shape of the mouse doesn't seem suited for that. It does work fine with that grip, but I think there are better mice out there that are more well suited for that.

Im about to write a review on the Logitech G500 VS the Steelseries Xai. I do own both so my opinion is based on fact rather then just what other reviews say. I would give it a read before I buy a mouse. You may be VERY surprised.
