New mobo not rec. graphics card

Hello folks. Maybe someone can assist me with this. I just installed a MSI GD65 and everything is cool except it does not recognize my graphics card. I tried swapping it out with an older one and still no dice. Any thoughts? Did I miss something in the bios?

you should not need to do anything through the bios, are you using the gpu while downloading the drivers?
or do you get nothing on the screen?

do you have the old drivers still trying to run an old GPU? cos id remove these restart the machine then try and see if that works for you, otherwise im not sure how ud clear the gpu through bios

verify in the BIOS that the PCIe lanes are not turned-off.
since you are/were using on-board graphics, that you set the BIOS for PCIe for
discrete graphics.
my GD65 booted with my 660ti SLI with no issues. first boot..
silly question, you did apply power to the GPU card(s)? is the PSU cable defective?

Ran that a few times. did not detect any new hardware,

update 1: I'm going to try another slot. be right back.

update 2: Won't work in any slot. It just started hissing also. wow! got no sound.

installing drivers to a non-detected device is futile...

either your lanes are disabled, not powered, or device isnt powered.
id start a RMA for that GD65.

I just installed the new board, still the same problem. I tried to install the amd drivers and I got a message saying did not detect device or os?!!! I have a feeling I'm missing something.

Try updating your bios to the latest version if not allready done. Or try a clear cmos. Also iirc there is a setting to switch between pcie 2.0 and 3.0, might wanna try playing around with that.
Could also be your gpu or psu having a problem.

Well here's a kicker. I reset the GD65 to f5,and when I plugged into the card it was recognized. Windows automatically installed drivers, and I then could install CCC. After a little tweaking, everything is fine. Thanks to all for your assistance.

when in doubt reboot (with optimized settings) and start all over...
glad to hear it is functional again.. with better results

its freakie.. one day my gene-z forgot wtf it was.. just booted up and i noticed the
fans went bonkers 100% so it finished booting, restart and BIOS entry. yeppers
all optimized (not of my doing), found BIOS save, click, save (F10) alls good!

I had a similar issue with my Z77 board and my Xeon.

I built it and set it all up and it seemed to be fine. Clocked my ram up and everything was going dandy..

When I installed CPUZ my CPU was showing to be running at 3ghz instead of the turbo frequency. Nothing I tried made it work until I loaded optimal defaults and then it finally started to work.

But nothing had been changed and it was definitely enabled in the bios :S
