New Look Chat Thread - And Bug reporting

woooooooooooooooop, just loged in for the first time, its so much more differnt fromthe old site but its awsomejust trying to find the compo now

I think it looks ok but few things about it that are missing or don't look right (please don't take this personal as I can see this has taken ages to do)

Stuff I don't like:

The background (seems intrusive with the massive branding and is a 55KB JPG)

The size (I know most forums are fixed width but for people with 1080p monitors, the content looks lost)

Text size on edit box (Probably due to high resolution but text looks really small)

Stuff I like:

Partner Content at bottom

Valid CSS / XHTML links

Stuff that's missing:

New posts (used to use this feature all the time)

Reputation System? (not showing below avatars)

Bugs:

Smileys not showing on right side of advanced edit

On the most part it's nice, though not quite as streamlined a look as the old style, this will probably take a little getting used to.

The only other gripe I have, and this was on the last version too, is there's a lot of wasted space (maybe a tad more now). A lot of this is derived from overly large avatars and signatures. I think there should be a size limit (pixels) on avatars and signatures to keep everything looking a lot neater overall and still give a large amount of personalisation.

EDIT: Also just got the 30 sec bug.

Just to address some :p ...

Background: Is only temporary. These are the companies that helped sponsor the new site. After a month it will go back to a normal BG. Oh and BTW 55kb is amazing (imo) compared to what it could have been. Took about a week to get it down from 200kb :o

Size: It's actually wider than the old OC3D by a little bit. You probably know the reason for a fixed width site, but for those who don't it's basically to make sure that our content looks the same across all resolutions. For example, we dont want someone with dual/triple screens stretching the site across both screens and then watching as our 10 paragraph review merges onto a single line :p

Fonts: Yeah the reply fonts are pretty tiny. I'll look into it.

New Posts: Is now called "What's new".

You will get that bug a lot, but don't worry the data is always sent.

error:

This forum requires that you wait 30 seconds between posts. Please try again in 30 seconds.

Cool :)

The only other thing I noticed just a min ago was massive images (eg: desktop thread) don't get resized down like they did causing it to go out of the boundaries of the fixed width

Also white text on grey background at top :(

Think it's going to take a while to get used to :)

It does look a lot more modern and cleaner with the icons etc :D

The blue backdrop to the border logos makes the site look 100% better.

Still think the forum width looks limiting, and the OC3D logo isn't prominent enough.

Not sure if it's been said int he last 5 pages, But i was viewing the PSY section. And the images have been stretched and things are overlaping.

In regards to the "w8 30s between posting". I've just noticed that it only happens when u use the "+Reply to Thread" method. If u go straight to the Quick reply, everything seems ok. However the +Reply thing seems to bounce u straight to the Quick reply resulting in trying to post it twice.

Like the new look Jimbo, awesome work as usual. What's New sorts me out with New Posts so that's all I care about ;)

I think the backdrops are a necessary evil tbh and frankly they're not too shabby. Personally if it helps Jimbo with revenue having them full time, then I would reckon we'll all get used to it

Not surfed enough yet, but as stated text here is a little small, not that I care really :)

Oh just noticed: your bottom links like 'Contact Us' and 'Advertising' all go back to the forum rather than where they're sposed to go.

And Yeah: get OCZ to change their banner size as it's too big for the box?
