I thought most phones had that nowadays? Both of my previous phones have had it. :s

I did get one. Combine the improvements of OS3 with a helluva lot of a speed increase and you have the 3GS. It really is lightning compared to the 3G. The increased memory size and processor speed mean the Internet is faster on the phone too. Not had a massive chance to see if graphics are better but NFS is pretty awesome on it.

The camera is really good and video really is fantastic.

Is it worth the upgrade? For me: yes as I wanted 8GB more memory and the speed is much better.

Might do a mini-review writeup later on if anyone's interested?

Loving up the game TapDefence... Tis very addictive.

Also that music namer app (Shazam) has been about a while. My girlfriend installed that app on her phone and I was thinking 'she's never gonna use that'.... Then on TV a few hours later a tune came on we both liked and she couldn't remember what it was... Told her to crack that app out and see if it worked.. It's quite clever really as it found the tune in seconds.

i was reading in the news that the cpu is actually underclocked. Wonder how long till it will be put to its native speed.

Yeah, something about it being able to run at 800MHz but it would get too hot and kill the battery pretty quickly....

According to TrustedReviews, Apple have sold 1,000,000 of the new iPhone in just 3 days. That is very impressing indeed

O² say that they sold more 3GS in 3 hours of trading than they would the whole of a normal saturday :p

that doesnt sound like that much of a feat tbh. I bet whenever they get a new phone in that people have been waiting for their sales go up.

Depends on how you look at it though really. Sure I paid £200ish to get the new phone, but I'll deffo make that up. I also mainly got a different phone to get 16gb too.

So in answer to your question: Was it worth upgrading from an 8GB 3G to a 16GB 3GS for ~£200ish?

Yes :)

How will you make up the £200, I've lost you a bit there?

I have to say, going for the 16gb from an 8gb sounds quite sensible.

I've already got a 16 though, and certainly couldn't afford the 32gb 3gs, so think I dont think I will upgrade for a while yet.

One thing I really dislike is having all this space but not being able to just dump files on there without SSH which ya can't stick on the 3G S yet... Hmmmm

Edit: Just found a couple of programs that will let me do it.

Essentially the 3G is a phone I got for 'free'. I sold my old iPhone for £200 and bought it for £59 + contract extension. Also once my contract is done on the old 3G contract, I can just use PayG and save a lot of money. The resale value of the 3GS will be higher than the 3G, all of which means that whilst the upgrade cost me £200ish, I don't think I'll be hugely out of pocket when Apple release their next incremental upgrade

Ok so for anyone who didn't know, there is software for your PC called DiskAid that will enable you to use your Iphones storage as if it were a USB memory stick.

It costs $10 but they give it to you for free if you have bought FileAid from app store before July 10th or something... Cool bit is that for the minute at least, FileAid is free in the app store, so can get both bits of software for freeeeeeee!

Edit: Just read the small print and it isn't free if you got the FileAid program free... Crap....

hmmm, my contract is ready for upgrade, what to do.....

..certainly not getting into a 2 year contract though!
