new card issues

Just back from my mates and the card does not work on his system either so its defo the card.

Thanks for all your input peeps, its been invaluable.

Kinda had the DOA feeling when I posted my post early in the thread, but didn't want to jump to any conclusions. But already there, from what had already been posted, gave me the gut feeling of probably a bad GPU. Hence my follow up questions, but didn't get a reply on those and saw others jumping in, so I stepped back.

Glad you found the issue at hand though and hope the next card will work just fine for you :)

Thanks for your input, I thought I had responded

This is an omen ! It means you should get the 7900XTX ! :D

If only I had a few 100 extra I would have

Well I have installed another new card today and I still have no image.
According to my qcode I have booted to desktop, AA no errors or beeps during boot up.
I tried safe mode with minimal and same
tried a different HDMI cable and same result.

I guess it has to be my monitor which is from 2015 (S27E510C 1080p)

I can only suggest to check the monitor settings somehow, you'd have to be dead unlucky to get 2 faulty cards and as you said no errors this time.

If you have a spare TV connect that up to make sure it's not the card a 2nd time around, hopefully your find the cause of the issue.

And you have set the Bios to prioritise Discreet GPU and not iGPU? also tried slot 2 of your mobo?

This seems to be issue between GPU and Display.
When you turn on your computer, does it get an IP address on the network?
Plug a network cable in to check.
I suspect your OS is booting.

Plug you PC into your home router with ethernet cable, check on the router if the PC gets an IP address, if it does, then you are in windows and you need to buy a new monitor :)

Edit:
Or somehow get the PC booted into safe mode, or boot from Ubuntu Live USB.
Maybe some old monitor settings in graphics control panel not playing well with your new card and the monitor.

All working, turned out I needed a better HDMI cable.

Thank you to everyone for your contributions.

Well at least your up and running, wouldn't have expected it to be a cable issue, still happy gaming and happy birthday for the few days back now you can relax and enjoy stuff :)

Is a strange one as I'd thought any modern hdmi would have worked, guess the cable was just too old in some way, maybe a certain standard is needed, while 2.1 is a thing i'd expect older would work but didn't think any hdmi would be an issue still something to remember all the same.

Odd thing is, I had already tried 2 cables, I saw one in the shops yesterday tagged as a 4k one and at £4 figured it was worth a punt.
