As with any new graphics card release there will always be new models, so it's no surprise that XFX have applied their Merc 319 tech to the newest Radeon GPU.
XFX RX 7800 XT Merc 319 Review
Evening Tom. Will you be reviewing other partner cards?
I turn 60 next week and my lovely wife is giving me £500 so I can finally replace that strix 470 I won from you one xmas day.
I do like the look of that merc though.
My advice to you is find another £130 and buy this.

Starfield was notably missing from a lot of the 7000 series cards that were reasonably priced, and the 6950XT is 20% faster. Which is a lot.
You may even be able to find one cheaper if you look around..

Yeah, get that.
Cheers Alien, I would have to up my psu to 850 for that card.
I want rdna 3 because of the new and upcoming software improvements which I am expecting to push performance up a tier.
Here.
850w gold. I bought it for my 6950XT, then got a Thor on the cheap.
Prove you bought a 6950xt and like I say, you can have it free for postage. Should be about a tenner? IDK.
Edit. Don't worry about the broken warranty sticker. When I got it I completely took it apart and cleaned it all the way through so it is like new in there. I then fully tested it and probed it with a MM. It's spot on.
Cheers matey, much appreciated, I shall have a ponder
Appreciate your thoughts, going 6950 is not a small bump from the £500 I have although I can probably squeeze the better half for another 50.At this early stage you might find it hard to even get a 7800XT they are selling quickly with mostly the higher priced versions being in stock as I see most sites are preorder and amazon has from what i saw 4 left, I expect that amd are rolling them out slowly distribution wise so atm I'd say the best bet would be direct from AMD if your happy with the MBA card.
I do however agree with Alien on this one we do agree on most things thou it may not seem it at times, but the 6950XT is a far stronger card than the 7800XT and in DXR is going to be ahead a fair bit as even my 6800XT is ahead in that instance.
You'd still get FSR with frame gen, it's HypR RX that i'm not fully sure once frame gen is added to that in Q1 if it'll have 6k support, so my advice would be unless there is some older dx11/12 game you want frame gen in that doesn't have current gen support, then you have no reason not to get a 6950XT just a far stronger card.
Even get a free PSU but i can safely say 750watt is fine thou i am on an amd chip but my 850 watt is overkill for my setup I expect even with all my many hard drives i'm maybe using 600watts i'm not sure but the corsair RM850X I have the fan never spins so idk it's corsair magic.
Thing is it's worth the slight extra cost.
