new card issues

Do you have bios post code or beep ? Does it give a warning for VGA ?
D6 is bios post code for VGA error on Asus boards normally.

Does the PC actually boot up though and you're just getting an black screen? Does your monitor even recognize it all, like are you getting an signal to the monitor or does it simply go "No signal" upon booting?...

here is a clip of my PC with the new card in.

I have my PC and CCTV on the same screen via a HDMI switch.
When I turn the PC on the screen immediately changes from HDMI 2 (CCTV) to HDMI 1 (PC), so its seeing something.

Can you by chance plug a displayport cable in to see if that works ? Or maybe go straight from the monitor to your card, Could be that the switch is giving the card issues.

no display port, its an old monitor, tried direct to monitor and issue remains.
trying to find a friend local with a decent rig to test it in.
I am thinking its either the psu or my screen are not upto the job

I doubt it's the PSU as yes the card requires a 700w PSU so 500w is under the recommended level but it would still get to the desktop as you're not drawing 300w+ at boot.

Could very well be the monitor, Maybe the card doesn't like the older HDMI implementation.

This seems to be issue between GPU and Display.
When you turn on your computer, does it get an IP address on the network?
Plug a network cable in to check.
I suspect your OS is booting.

PSU is a seasonic 750 so should be capable

I cant get into bios using the new card and im always connected via network cable

Your post code shows AA which means handover to OS. I believe your bios posted , you just can't see it

This isn't motherboard specific, more like Asus specific, but D6 implies a GPU issue.

The steps to fix aren't all that helpful, however I would try to reinstall the GPU and as the guide says check the PCI pins on both GPU and motherboard slot. Make sure power cables are also seated correctly fully inserted.

D6 = VGA

I think your GPU is not seated correctly or its not getting enough power.
Take it to a friends house and test it.

AA is usually a hardware failure on Asus boards if it remains displayed.

I did once have this problem because the BIOS was expecting my GPU to be seated in slot two. PC was on but no display until I put it in the other slot. Once I did that, BIOS was visible, allowing me to reset it and everything was fine.

I am trying to get hold of a mate that I built a system for in January

AA is normal bootup for asus

Well I'm not sure as I've never had codes on any board i've owned.

But one thing I would say to check is if there are any bios update for the board it may or may not help, but I don't feel it'd be power tbh so something either the bios it's self or a setting, but otherwise I really couldn't say until you test the card, so I'd do that first to know for certain it's not the card.

Something else which you most likely done, is rip out all the drivers with the old card and clear that out for fresh, another thing is how the monitor is set which mode is in like maybe there are some kind of monitor setting that can be changed to then be detected correctly.

Since this is a new card I think it may be high time to say it's probably hardware related and a bad GPU. Nothing else works and you said your old rx470 still boots. I think installing Windows 10 instead of 11 is really about the only software related thing you could probably do.

Otherwise only thing left to do hardware wise is get a hold of your mate and test it. Whether he swaps out gpus or you use his in yours, you'll find an answer.
