New home server

Hi,

I'm looking at building a new home server (again). I'll be using a sata raid card that uses a pci-x connection.

I'm after a motherboard (core2duo/core2quad) that has the 64bit pci-x card slot. I understand that these are mainly found on server boards but I'm looking for some power savings so don't really want to go down that route. I know Asus do a few motherboards with the pci-x slot, but I'm not really a fan of them. Any better suggestions?

also, did anyone know that OC3D is on their front page? > http://uk.asus.com/

Sorry I don't mean to be a pain but why do you want to use a card? Why not use the onboard Intel ICH*R chip to do it for you?

because the onboard one is a pile of poo. Probably doesn't support online expansion and probably neither has 8 ports. i dont want to end up loosing the data so will opt for a raid card that uses the 64bit pic-x slot (bandwidth alot higher too). ta
