Looks pretty solid for a lower priced gaming PC. I would only change that 2 tb 5400 (or 5900?) rpm drive to a 1 tb 7200 rpm drive. Like an F3 or something. 5400 rpm drives are RIDICULOUSLY slow. Also I have heard some pretty mediocre things about ocz power supplies. I would recommend a Corsair, or Cougar power supply. But the rest of the rig is solid! I built a rig for a friend of mine with that same MB, Proc, Memory and it is running perfectly smooth. Should be a very nice PC man.

700w is overkill with a single card right? and if you want to cf at some point 700w probs wont have the juice for it?

it may be.... but, considering PC components change more often than i have sunday lunches, it would be an undersight for someone not to buy a PSU, with a bit of leaway, now or, buy a lower power that will suffice for the current needs, only to have to buy another PSU down the road when an upgrade is due that needs more oomph

Having looked at that Gladiator case - the cable management isn't the best. For an extra £20 I'd get a HAF 912 Plus. Better looks, cable management, black interior - just a much better case that you could build in time and again.
I'd also spend an extra £10 and get say the Gigabyte Motherboard GA-Z68XP-UD3P. As said before OCZ are not the best for PSU's - look at Corsair, Seasonic, Enermax or even Antec. The PSU is not a component you should skimp on - even in a budget build.

psu wise, what should i be looking at then?

For the PSU you could go with Corsair, BeQuiet, Enermax, Seasonix. Corsair seems to be the one that most people recommend though.

No but there are no gen 3 cards out atm, and by the time there are, you'll probably be in the market for another board. My personal preference is to go for Gigabyte or Asus.

this is his first pc, is is not best to buy a gen 3 now rather than buying another motherboard when the new cards come out?

Its up to you dude. How long realistically is he going to have that 6950? If its a couple of years, then just get a quality gen 2, if its 6 months then get a gen 3. Not everyone is a serial upgrader.

Really should get a WD black or a samsung spinpoint F3 hdd for OS and programs. Like many have said, the Seasonic, Corsair, Enermax and NZXT have pretty good quality psu's. When you have decided for graphics you could check how big psu you need for x-fire/sli and just go for a big enough psu for that. Btw a 750w is big enough for two 6950 in cross fire, since they have low power consumption. If you choose 2x 560 cards you should get 750w+ psu.
