New external storage setup, whatcha think?

Well I just ordered a few parts from Newegg as I've come to the swift conclusion that 2 x 74gb raptors just don't have the overall capacity that I'm looking for. You may be asking yourself "Why the fuck didn't he just get another internal drive since the guy has like 98984958 open SATA ports?"

The answer is simple, no place to put another hard drive. The actual hard drive cage is taken up by both of my pumps and my 2 raptors sit underneath my floppy drive. So that answers that lil question :p

Anywho, I tried to keep to a decent budget while obtaining the most amount of space possible. For $168.97 shipped I was able to add an additional 300 gigs which should last me a while :) Mainly got it for storing all of my shitloads of music and recorded shows (ie. Lost :D).

The external encloser I chose was the PPA International Metal Gear 3.5" USB 2.0 black aluminum enclosure with bottom LED's for $33.99...

For the HD I chose a nice inexpensive Maxtor MaXLine III 300Gb 7200RPM ATA133 w/ 16mb of cache for $127... Pretty good!

Pretty inexpensive and pain-free way to add more storage to a computer w/ absolutely no more space in it, haha. :wavey:

Well got my parts in today! Took about 5 mins to install the hd in to the case, very simple and straightforward. Hooked up the external cables, powered on, windows recognized, formatted, voila 300 more gigs of space :D

Looks pretty good too!

Can't beat 300 gigs of goodness with a slick ass metal case w/ led's for $160!

Looks pretty neat actually. Is there any info on this drive. I'm currently using a Buffalo LinkStation which is pretty good, but looking to upgrade to something bigger... maybe even better?

Glen.

looks very nice!!

I recently bought a Medion 250Gb'er but am still craving more space, backing up all my CD's in .flac destroys the room

That is excellent, what a great price. I'm looking for an external drive myself but haven't found anything that good. Will keep searching though :)

This is actually just an enclosure that I picked up a 300gb Maxtor IDE hd for, it doesn't come assembled w/ HD installed. Dont know if u can get this same enclosure in the UK or not though.
