New computer??? Which one

If you plan on gaming and maybe some photoshop and light video editing, go with gtx680 if you can get 2 of them awesome! If you don't mind the money go with the x79 mb with the intel i7 3960x as it is going to be the best consumer cpu out there by a far amount. with the 240gb ssd, 32gb of ram (64 if you really wanna) a h100 is more than enough if you don't intend to get serious about overclocking
 
never buy the 3960X, why pay nearly double the price for 3mb of cache. Virtually everyone who has reviewed both said there is little point buying the 60X unless you are a professional OC'er

I think it's better go with the 3930k, the 3960x it's in the best case 5% faster, but if he want to spend the money, it is the best you can get. Someone fix If I am wrong, but the best CPU's are in order from the best down 3960x > 3930k > 3770k > 2700k > 3550K > 2500K
 
I got the monitors all ready and money is not an issue, I have the money and just wanted help with getting a really good computer. I just did not want to sound like i was bragging or anything like that. I know how people get.

should have just said what computer if price was not an issue.

I'm from Sheffield so not that far away. I would be happy to build it after about the 25th of June if you could wait that long, and if you are desperate

I'd probably want a long hard think about the parts though tbh, do seem a little odd to me!

Can I also add that you cannot run a a dual GPU, dual rad setup with the pump from the rasa 750. My build is the cpu, 1 gpu, and 2 240mm rads and I've had to change the pump to a D5 cause I know the XSPC one wont cope. Because of this, there would be little benefit of getting the RASA kit
 
if money is no object then sure the 3960x is better, then you will want EVGA hydo copper 680's or superclocked signatures with koolance water blocks, cpu 370 would be must. IF money really is no object then a fool custom loop is optimal and id take a look at caselabs cases....

If you have that amount of money to spend why not buy the components individually and build it yourself I was like you at first should I pay someone to do it for me the nervous feeling you get thinking you won't be able to do it but personally there is no better feeling than building one yourself once you do it you'll never go back and doing so you can learn so much from it that will help you in the future just my opinion
 
Yes I know what you mean but It's a little expensive if It goes wrong I know I said money don't matter. I would really like a full water cooled one. I got a site that do em but they don't have the components seems funny to me.

UKGC Site do it but parts are short, have a look go to water cooling rigs and build your own specs but not much choice to pick from..

I know that you want a fast pc and that you have got the cash to do it but what you are suggesting is just frankly ridiculous.

3960? 32gb RAM? I can't even accept 680s now that 670s are out. How much is this looking to cost? Over £2000? It's just such a waste dude, you can build a pc for £1200 that is absolutely blistering at gaming (3570k, z77 board, 8gb RAM, 2x670s/7950s, corsair 850w psu, 120gb ssd and a storage HDD). Add £200 more and you've got a custom watercooled loop.

Have you really got nothing else in life to spend the money on? Save for uni, a house, take the gf on holiday or give the rest to charity...
 
I know what and were you coming from but to be blunt I just wanted advice to tell me whether it was going to be a good system fast and able to do anything I threw at it money not being an issue. I don't mind paying the money at all, I do understand you I really do but all I want is a good computer that is going to last a while and is going to do anything I want to. To be honest with you all I do all day most days is sit in front of computer messing about with different programmes I find. mess about allot with video stuff and photo. I was in a real bad motor bike accident a few year ago and left me not being able to work or do just about anything I used to do. can't go on holidays it's just not the same any more.

So all I want is a fast good computer that I can have a play about with and I might as well spend MY money on top end gear. bit too late for me going to UNI LOL. 47. and like i said before i don't know much about computers and specs and stuff that's why I asked you lot for help.

If thats the case, why not learn to do it yourself?

You're treating it more like a hobby so why not get to know how to do it all? Most people on this site would kill to be sat at home every day with large amounts of money to spend on computers and stuff, you may as well get to know what you're buying.

The main thing about computers at this level isnt about the performance or anything, its about the joy of building it all yourself, and staying in the loop about everything to continually upgrade and sell things when new parts come out, whether it be a new processor, or just a fan! I definitely have more fun getting all the parts together and building a system, then spending ages making cable management perfect than actually playing with the computer when it's built.

It's not exactly hard, there's plenty of videos on youtube of how to built it and since you know well enough now what parts have to go in, you're already 80% of the way there. Just build it yourself!

Yes Thanks I will defo be having ago but will let someone build this one for me. I have another water cooled comp I had built a few year ago its a big case easy to work with, so might just take it to bits and start building from scratch if I don't blow it up I will give it a family member. cheers

Well I've said my bit and I'm really sorry to hear about the motorbike accident dude.

I've had a look around at a number of sites which aim to allow you to create a custom pc but I'm not finding anything which is really hitting all the buttons for whatever reason. So what I am going to do is list the parts that I would get if I were wanting to do what you are. Hopefully that will give you something to look for.

CPU 3930k

Mobo Rampage IV Extreme

See if you can get an overclocked bundle @ 4.5ghz +

RAM I'd want 16gb (4x4gb or 2x8gb) of 1600mhz+. Something made by Corsair or Mushkin would be great. That's perfect for photo/video editing (and more than enough for gaming).

SSD Intel 520 series 120-240gb depending on how much you think you'll want.

HDD 2x 2tb Western Digital caviar blacks (1 for storage and one for back ups)

GPUs 2x 2gb 680s

PSU Corsair AX 1200

Cooling NH-D14

And a sexy case of your choice.

There is a little flexibility in there:

I'd get 32gb of ram to mess around with ramdisking which might be something you want to play with.

If you want to get a multiple screen set up then I'd get 2x 4gb 680s (based on the fact that you don't seem keen on OCing yet).

I'd also want to go watercooling in which case:

Either a d5 or 2 DDC 18w pumps with a res of your choice (koolance, EK, XSPC for example)

Mayhems coolant of your choice

Raystorm cpu block

EK gpu blocks

2x 360 Alphacool UT60s or similar radiators.
