Project: Waterfall

Hi folks.

Those who have read the Frankenstein project log, will know what the go here is.

For those that have not, this is a minor update to Blue Marble, whereby i dismantle the entire rig, paint it white inside and out (possibly with a textured finish outside, I'm not 100% sure on that yet), update the graphics card, turn it so that it is vertical, paint the fans, and manufacture a better psu shroud. There are a couple of changes to the loop too. Bonus points to those that spot them.

So, the first thing to do is to go over what Blue Marble ended up with.

32 gigs RAM (heat spreaders removed for the beast) corsair vengeance

Watercooling:
XSPC Raystorm CPU block (recycled)
XSPC GTX1080TI GPU Block and Backplate (NEW!)
Singularity Computers Protium Medium Res and Mounting system (NEW!)
Alphacool UT60 360mm Radiator (recycled)
Alphcool UT60 240mm Radiator (recycled)
EKWB Black Nickel Hard tubing fittings (12/16mm) (Some new, some recycled)
EKWB PETG 12/16mm Tubing (2 meters worth - hope it's enough!)
XSPC 90 & 45 degree fittings (recycled)
5x Corsair 120SP Fans (recycled - old style: NON LED)

Please be aware, this project is in progress, and happening (more or less) now.

The work done so far (No pictures taken at this point):
Dismantled the water cooling loop in its entirety (Golly that took an AGE!).
Uninstalled all cables, and hardware from the case.
Stripped the panels previously covered in vinyl so that they are back to factory.
Stripped the case back to its base shell. This will have its rivets drilled out tomorrow morning.
Opened up the XSPC block, and removed the faceplate. My intention is to paint it, but i'm unsure about whether to go white or blue - anyone got any ideas?

Next steps:
Drill out the case rivets.
Apply the necessary mod to allow the GPU to be mounted vertically.
Wash all the panels which are being painted down and prep for painting.
Paint and possibly apply special effect.
....

I really liked the look of the alphacool res that had a waterfall feature in it....

Didn't get either of those though. Got a protium res from singularity computers.

No, the name is from the texture I intend to put on the outside of the case. If i do it right, the case should look like it is wet.

I loved the wrap, but it's time for a change....

I've stripped the case right down, and have washed the parts to be painted. Hopefully that part will be completed tomorrow, and I'll be able to get pictures up then.

Tragedy has struck.

The case, no longer exists.

I was set up in the garage, all the freshly prepped and partially painted panels hanging from the rails of the garage door. I myself was out at this time, so i don't really know precisely how it happened, but it seems that my wife came in, opened the garage (causing some of the pieces to drop and land on the ground), and parked her car in it - driving over (and in one case, parking ON) some of the pieces on the ground.

The front panel is broken, the motherboard tray is warped in 5 different directions, and the back panel it's flattened.

The tyres of the CX9 are being monitored for damage too. But yeah. I'm properly miffed.

So now I either need to focus on, and make Frank-N-Stein, or purchase a replacement case....

Either way, this project is now closed. Very anti-climactic. Sorry folks.
