New build will it work?

35FPS is perfectly reasonable, and playable - especially on ultra. Drop that to high/medium and you'd get 45/50+.

I'd assume you'd be telling all of the MSI Gaming laptops to 'gtfo' too...? Good one.

Quit with silly standards you have for gaming - I'm pretty sure if an Aftershox member has got through it this long on a 5830 then it will be fine.

For the record - I used to have a 5830 and it played games perfectly fine. Tbh, you don't even see the need to want higher until you've actually had higher yourself...

what has aftershocks got to do with anything? i'm pretty much exclusively an fps player and if i can't reach 60 fps (or 125 in idtech based games) i will lower the graphics because it affects my aim and my movement. BF3 is an fps game. i could understand someone playing an mmo or a single player game at 30-40 fps.
also not a fan of gaming laptops.

The OP is in Aftershox - and he currently owns the 5830 we're talking about...so it's obviously working well for him at the moment.

And still - that may be true for you, but it isn't for everyone - and therefore saying thing's like 'gtfo if you aren't getting 60FPS' is childish and out of place.

30 FPS on Ultra or 60+ on low settings. Who cares? It's personal preference anyway (that is when you can't have both).

The important thing is that it works for now.

Christ I just wanted recommendations on a build that didn't include the graphics card. Take it to the graphics card forums if you really want to battle it out guys.

I think Feronix has given me the answers I required, appreciate the help from everyone.

Like we've said numerous times, the card will prove more than ok for him now, the possibilities to upgrade in the future are more than there.

Cheers.
