I have between £900-1000 for a new build and have chosen the following components.

I already have a Corsair HX750 and a 256GB SSD that I will be using, aswell as a copy of windows.

These are the components I have chosen..

i7 4790k - £269
MSI Z97 Gaming 5 - £110
8GB HyperX Fury DDR3 1866 - £52
MSI GTX 970 Twin Frozr V £275
Corsair Air 540 - £115
2TB WD Green Drive - £60
Corsair H100 - £85

Total = £966

Any opinions or suggested changes? Looking for best gaming performance.
Thanks

Will you be doing anything taxing on the rig apart from gaming?

If it's exclusively a gaming rig then an i5 will be exactly the same performance, and you can put the money you saved towards a better GPU, or something else :P

This. That extra money can go to a 980 or a better monitor or a good pair of headphones to go with the "premium audio" on the motherboard you chose

Is that 8GB a single stick? I suggest you go 16GB (will be a bit overkill for gaming but you get dual channel and future proofness/beeing able to have firefox with 70 tabs :D )

As the rest said, an i5 4690k/4670k will serve you the same performance for a lot less money, you can then either keep that or spend it towards a 980. With either cards, 970 and 980 you can always add in another later down the line for SLI, as your PSU offers plenty wattage.

I don't agree that you'll need 16GBs of RAM. 8GB is more than plenty for pretty much every game out there for now, and you'll always have the option to upgrade to 16GBs later. It's just not necessary and would probably go over your budget anyway.

Also, why are you still picking up a Corsair H100? That thing is pretty old and honestly outdated by now, why not go with the newer H100i? Or even the H100i GTX when it is released soon.
