Hey everyone, I have had this problem for a while and I have tried ringing my Router and ISP service providers but they don't fix the problem just tell me what to do and leave it for 72 hours to see if the problem carry's on.

I have a Belkin Router ( Part Number - F5Z0103uk ) and Virgin 8MB ISP.

I have had this problem ever since I set up the network 2 years ago and I have tried to fix the problem with probably every solution available, but obviously not because it isn't fixed yet. The problem is every time I try to do heavy networking tasks e.g. gaming, downloading after about 10-30minutes my network will drop off all the computers in the house, but the router still says that its connected to the internet and computers will for a short while but you can't do anything with them. A reset of the router fixes the problem but it just happens again!

Please help me because it is so annoying.

I will try to give any information that is needed as best I can, I don't have a massive range of knowledge about networking so can people not use acronims ( unless required ) please.

I hope to hear back from anyone and sorry if this is posted in the wrong section of the forum.

your router's nackered, buy a newer, better quality one

i had one of those old belkins, useless

i sugest draytec

I also bought a belkin router, tried to hookup my network to no avail. I took it back to the store and bought a linksys plugged it in, boom internet.

I don't know how about availability in your area, but go

for 3Com, Cisco, Linksys ( which of course is cisco ) or

Netgear.

As far as I was working with routers/switches/firewalls

due to my job/study I can recommend these brands. And

of course HP, but IIRC they only offer professional products.

/edit:

This is just a hint for choosing a router manufacturer... it

does not say anything about your problem, but it really sounds

like your router is a bit... let's say a little bit 'Belkin'

It also happened with my old router which was free with my internet but as soon as I got this new router it happened...would I be able to buy a new router then if I get same problem just send it back and determin it is something else???

buy a new router, if it still occours, ring your isp, and shout at them and demand they do somthing until somthing happens....

because if 3 routers all do the same thing, then i would say that isnt a coincidence

Could also be your end too.

Best bet is to ring up virgin and get them to do all the tests they can. Hopefully they can advise you too

My ISP (Idnet) sent me a router to test with too.
