Need help choosing a card

Hi all,

I'm new to the forum but been following the site for a while now. I've got a couple of questions and was hoping you guys would be able to help me out.

Right, here goes:

I'm looking to buy a new graphics card and am settled on either the GTX 670 or 680. I'm looking to watercool and overclock but was wondering if the brand/edition of card I get will make any difference in these two aspects.

I'm basically looking for a good deal, so don't want to waste money getting a factory overclocked model with excellent cooling fans if I can get the same results by doing things myself on a less expensive brand card.

Any suggestions or advice would be really appreciated and thank you for your time!

if your watercooling the stock 670 pcb will look **** because the card is so small. i wouldnt buy a 680 because it isnt worth getting over the 670. so the simple answer is : 670 with a 680 pcb

If you are looking for a good deal I would just go for the GTX 580, mate. After all it's still damn good card and if you overclock it with a good watercooled loop I imagine it will give you some awesome benchmarks and around the same performance as the 670. I mean, at this moment it's a good bang for the buck.

As for the brand question, as loong as it's a reference card it doesn't matter. It's basically just a rebranded Nvidia model.

Here you can see the 580 compared to the 670 at stock speeds.

this is what I was thinking. I know there is one on Aria. But be carefull most are reference designs which will look really poor. EVGA has one. But it is also the most expensive 670 at 350 quid.

Cheers for the help guys, really appreciate it. I'll have another look around with your comments in mind and see what I can get for my money. Might look at the 580 as well and see what sort of performance I can get out of them.

Ive got a EVGA gtx 670 FTW edition, it has a 680 pcb and fits standard 680 waterblocks. Might be worth a look for you.
