hi

i just got a 2rd hand Sapphire 7870 Dual-X and i plugged it in and i get a power touch on the gpu fan (like a lil push) and that's it nothing the guy said it worked since its only 3months old and only used for a week. i know it says on the box 500w min psu and i have a 600w psu novatech, my asus 7770 works no problem but this card will not power up.

would anyone know tricks to get this working:(:(

you got all the cables plugged in correctly? either your PSU or the GPU is broken if you have all cables plugged in.

i have tried the cables that came with it and the pci cables i had with my psu and nothing powers up. the psu should be ok since its working and have been playing top games with the gpu but this gpu don't want to power up rite.

im googleing up and looks like the 7870 are big problem cards

thx tom but its all i could afford then i just had the seller on the phone and he says he had the same setup as me and same problem and amd told him to get a bigger psu and he got a 850w and worked after that.

would one think its just due to the psu really

it should be since the 7770 is working

i am putting it down to this crap psu as everything i have had but cpu have messed up on me from novatech

OOPS, I missed the 7770 part. Guess I should read more than once for it all to sink in. :o

Novatech make good power supplies. Well, the Powerstation range are made by Sita? or something?

Either way they're the exact same company who make PSUs for OCZ (the better ones). I mean sure they ain't no Corsair high end but they usually get the job done.

I'm assuming by the OP that you are now in possession of two of these correct? have you tried them both individually to see if they both work as they should on their own?

Edit. My bad I just noticed you said 2nd hand and not 2nd. Totally read that wrong and assumed you were setting up CrossfireX.

I would try a bigger PSU. If you're not rocking enough amps then nothing will start up.

hi thank you guys for replying.

i had to sell my ps3 for this card lol

i have this psu

im am on novatech forum now asking them if its the psu i've looked and i really cannot see why this will not work really

I have been using a shitty "advance 450w" psu over the last 3 days and It powered up my 7950 @. 1100mhz / 1575mhz ram 1200v no problem using the molex to pc-ei adatpers.. (actually furmark fried the 12v rail yesterday but you should still be able to power on and get to the desktop... I think your card is toast to be honest.. Go try it another system if you can..

i have just tried again to get this gpu going yet nothing will push it to power up.

a tech guy on novatech forum said the pus i have would be more than enough to power the 7870 and rest of my rig. im really not sure what's up
