Hi Guys,

I'm looking for a decent performing NB block for my Asus Commando which is arriving tomorrow.

I've looked for Swiftech and Microcool ones but all are out of stock in UK :(

I've got one of those Coolermaster ones here, but its pretty naff tbh.

£26.37 including VAT ............ are you kidding me? thats just a slightly large ramsink with a wussy fan on it

Nonono, its a massive lump of copper with a fan on top. Pretty much the best NB cooler you can get along with the Microcool Northpole.

And yeah! That looks like a right rip off tbh!

Does it give amazing results?

@xms, you went for the asus commando, why? I only ask as I can't decide what mobo to get, the rd600 not do it for you?

I previously had a P5B Dlx which was such an easy going board, it was rock solid and really easy to set up. After I busted it I had a word with Asus and they said that the Commando was everything that the P5B was + a little bit more. It also seems to be the best board for clocking most memories at the moment - taking some D9 to 1300mhz!

Also, I've been using a 680i and its riddled with bugs - to the point where I think it will be taking a trip out of the nearest window.

The RD600 still seems a bit immature, and after hearing some experiences I just want something hassle free.

Amen to all of the above!

Replace the TIM on the NB of a P5B stock north-bridge and you won't get those temps

My P5W stock NB gets far better temps than those stated - go knows what they've been doing to it

The P5B NB is pretty sucky tbh - its aluminium painted in a copper colour. And i'm far form impressed on any of the heatpipe cooling systems.

I've also bough a new sb.

It's BY FAR the best NB cooler currently available. Thermalright doesn't have anything on the Swifty MCX-159-CU. Good choice Jimbo, you'll love that setup. It works a friggin' treat on my RD600.

Now here's a man that knows his NB sinks ;)

mmm, can anyone recommend me a cheaper but effective NB heatsinks? The swiftech's a bit too rich for me, it's almost the same price as my cpu HS lol :) (tuniq tower BTW)

Thermaltake Extreme Spirit II is a good choice also.

Np mate, it can be a bit of a pita to get mounted correctly and tightened down sufficiently, but once you do it's a very very nice cooler for the price. One of TT's better products for sure.
