Time to move my NAS/SERVER to a new case and also future proof the storage :)

Current NAS:

Case: Fractal Torrent Nano
Motherboard : X670E-I
CPU: 7950X Delidded
Storage: 8 x WD Red in Thunderbolt 3 External enlcosure
RAM: 2x48Gb DDR5 5600

New NAS:

Problem

ITX only has 1 PCIe slot which is going to be used by my HBA card.
I need another x4 slot for a dual 10Gb network.

Fix

Break out one of the 2 M.2 slots to a PCIe riser card using OCULINK
Tested it all this afternoon and works perfectly :)

Also for those thinking the NH-D9L is a bit small for a 7950x, I have to agree with you.

This is where delidding comes in handy and Noctuas offset mount / direct die kit.
CPU is much cooler now but as this is a NAS/Server I do still intend to use AMD ECO mode to limit power.

A 7950X powered NAS and a 7950X3D powered main rig ? Did you win the lottery or sleep with someone very rich ? ^_^

well while the 7950X is complete overkill for a NAS it'll at least not need updating for a very long time maybe when your in your 70's lol

Its actually a NAS + Proxmox Server + Firewall all in one.

Got quite a lot of training & certificates to pass over the coming months: Cyberark, VMWare, Cisco ++++ So this is gonna come in handy for virtualisation too.

It will run other services too like plex, dns, nginx & qbitorrent, pFsense.

The pFsense VM is actually running the network in my whole apartement (Wifi, Switches, IoT), this is why I needed the dual 10gig card for WAN and LAN ports:

qbitorrent I honestly feel this is the best of the bunch as far as torrent apps go I switched to this when I got gigabit and it made a massive difference compared to what i was using, Idk if it's code or the fact it's more barebones but it sure makes getting some things a lot faster for me :)

The best thing about it I like is the API, you can pretty much automate the whole feature set without once connecting to the webgui.

Well for me it was just more that it's better able to handle a large amount of connections vs others and since I get a gb+ down it makes things a lot quicker than others, like vastly.
