Well, good news is.... I have my z77 GD65

Bad news is.... it needs RMAing

It booted fine the first time but now it's stuck in a boot loop with error code 55, it's not my hardware because i'm using all of it now on my H61 board so it's definitely the board.

I was going to post a mini review/first impressions and some results of Lucid MVP and some other benches but I can't do that until I sort an RMA out, so for now here are some pics. As soon as I get a working board I will post up some results from Lucid MVP etc.

It is a really nice looking board as well and i'm gutted about having to RMA, it's the first thing I have ever bought that hasn't worked and have to RMA, sods law I suppose.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that i'll try again in the morning and it will work, I don't have my hopes up.

Sucks that yours doesnt work

Everytime I see a build inside one of those Switch cases it always makes me regret not buying that case instead of the Cosmos 2.

If I may ask, what made you choose the GD65 over the other Z77 boards? I ask this because i'm having a tough time choosing myself, and was thinking about the Gigabyte UD5.

I chose it because from what I have read it is one of the best z77 boards, it's the most power efficient, the world overclock record for IB was done using it, so it's definitely good for overclocking and the on board sound is really good. Also because I won a £25 cashback voucher from MSI.

There isn't that much difference between motherboards though to be honest just some have more/better features than others, go for the one with the features you want/like the most and like the look of most.

In other news, thanks to my retarded idiot of a friend, I can no longer RMA my board because he decided to poke at the CPU socket and bent a load of the pins

I think I can bend them back in place but I still wont be able to RMA it, so now it looks like I have a £150 paperweight. There might be some hope though, I did some googleing on the error code I was getting and it is related to RAM, so it might just not like my Mushkin blackline, unlikely, but there is a small chance that it might work with some other RAM. *keeps fingers crossed*

i use the 8gb mushkin blackline low voltage kit with mine so i think the ram should work.

maybe there is some problems with your ram slots

Mine are the 1.5v versions, they shouldn't cause any probs but you never know. Might be the ram slots though, if it is then i'm stuffed. Because of my idiot friend bending the pins on the socket I can't RMA, even though I can bend the pins back you can still tell that they have been bent. If I can't get it working i'll just have to buy another one and see if I can get any money for this one selling it as spares and repairs on Ebay.

I was so mad yesterday when my mate bent the pins on the socket, I smashed his phone afterwards and I don't think i'll be seeing him for a while....

Man, that sucks. If one of my friends did that i have no idea how i would react, but i know i would go absolutely mental to say the least. Hopefully you can get the pins fixed up and get the board up and running
