On Monday my PSU of over two years a Hiper Hpu-4S25 gave up the ghost, getting back to my room with the smell of burning and that sinking feeling. I immediately sent an email to Hiper to arrange an RMA, Two working days later I received the following email.

Dear Daniel,

your RMA no. END001-*******

please bare in mind that YOU MUST provide us with the packaging, including

the tool box, cables, manual, as well as proof of purchase( if the psu is less than a year old, it has to be sent back to the retailer).

(please note if we don't receive these your RMA will be rejected).

plz send it to our Milton Keynes address, which can be find in our website.

regards

Hooman Minai

Glad to see they make it easy… And spelt Please right. Sending the package off today, lets see what happens :D

PS, any one got a 425+ w Psu for sale, pm me.

The professionalism of their e-mail leaves a lot to be desired

Good luck with the RMA mate, I know i'd be stuffed - i never keep the packaging :(

LOL I always keep the boxes for 'ron' (later on). Felicity is always on my back to stop being a hoarder...the example given above is now my justification for doing so.

You should have replied stating some health and safety fire regulations for the home, which say that storage of cardboard boxes poses a fire risk and that all packaging was disposed of at a recycling unit, hence why it is wrapped in bog roll. and a jiffi bag. :D

Would have protested if it where not the fact that Hooman would probs take to next week to reply.

if it makes you feel any better mate the RMA procedure when we send stuff back to suppliers is pretty much the same.....pita tbh.

If you come unstuck I probably have an old Hiper box lying around here somewhere.

Is it legally necessary to have to have to packaging ? Proof of purchase has to be acceptable surely.

Keeping the packaging for absolutely everything u buy could be beyond rediculous.

yeah, most if not all retailers do this

can be a problem for allot of people

but sometimes you can sneak through the net if you missing a small item

the packaging, well thats not likely to be kept two years on, and i think that you have a good case for argument on that one

I was curious why, lucky I had kept my box manual and kettle leads. Any way. I sent Hooman an e-mail asking if I really needed to send everything back, his reply.

we normally replace the faulty psus with a brand new one so we'd really appreciated if you send us every thing even the kettle cable.

you should have your RMA returned within a week.

That explains why they need the original packageing and manuals for a broken PSU. Shame you dont really have anything to stand on when it comes to warrenty claims. Cost nearly a tenner to send it too.

A final update and Thumbs up for Hipers RMA. Got my Brand New HPU-4S435-PK this morning. Nice little PSU, with mesh case, 120mm fan, not too lound and plenty of Molex conectors plus two SATA and a PCI-express connector.

1 Working week exactly to get a new PSU, with no quabbles.
