Why Wont My *Fresh From RMA* 8800GT Work?

So as the title states, i've just recieved my card back from RMA, because they tested it working.

I got it, and it would not even post. I sent it back. They say it's fine. They return same item. I cannot for the life of me get it to post. I've tried:

- PSU 6-pin

- Molex to 6-pin adapter

- With on monitor, and two, all different ports.

- Will try it on my flatmates machine tomorrow when he is out.

And that's about it really.

Can anyone give me a heads up as to why my card doesn't work? (It's an XFX8800GT Alpha Dog Ed.)

Could it be caused by my overclock? (at 3.4 on an E6600)

It seems ridiculous as i am currently writing this from the same system, only with my old 7900GT which works perfectly.

If eBuyer class it as working, am i liable to just return it and get my money back? And order a new card from a different place (That isn't eBuyer)

Cheers Guys.

When it`s in and u get no picture, does the pc sound like it`s fully booting.. cept u just can`t see anything ? (after so many minutes caps-lock on the keyboard toggles ok when u press it, or numlock on keypad)

What psu u sporting ? and what else is connected to it ?

Coolermaster iGreen 600 is my power. Got 2 fans and 2x4inch CCFL's on Molex duty, 2xSATA HD's, and the usual 24+8 pin mobo connects. Oh and my Freezer 7 Pro. Nothing too strenuous for a 600 watter.

All the fans come on, 8800GT included, just wont post. Haven't checked the keybaord, always sat under my desk when i try it. Will try this next.

I'm gonna reset my CMOS, everything back to stock, drivers an all, and try it again.

Why can't anything ever be simple with me.

Edit - DVI > VGA x2. White to blue. Times two.

my 8800gts and my friends 8600gts wont work using DVI>VGA adapters, connected to a CRT. No idea why, but they dont. They work when connected to TFT's, using adapters (i.e. not DVI directly), so there's definately some sort of issue somewhere. I'm guessing you're using TFTs with VGA inputs, have you tried using DVI only?

Sorted. I went back to stock clocks on everything, and after a fwe misfires, crashes and non-posts, it seems to be working.

11000+ 3DMark06's, finally playing with the big boys. That's nearly 3 times the score of my old 7900GT.. Awahoo!

i'm dreading this type of issue happening to me - just sent off my card lol, didn't post, fans worked, (did dvi only), and tried it on 2 PCs lol.

i will cry if I get a NFF or DOA card back

there's still something not right about it.

When i turn it on sometimes it still doesn't post, so i need to hard reset it. Really starting to annoy me now.

On the upside, i can play Stalker at full everything. AA & V-Sync included, at 16x10 res.

i have the same issues, with a 8800GTS and P5Kc. sometimes it'll post, sometimes it wont. eventually it does.

However I rarely reboot so not really an issue for me

So from a nights sleeping, a fresh boot with the power button doesnt work. The fans spin but it wont post.

I've had to press the reset button each time to get it to work.. And it's very strange.

Could this be down to some BIOS power management issue maybe?

Sometimes (quite often) I have to dicsonnect the power cable, wait for the mobo to discharge, then try again. even then it doesnt always work fully.

Is the motherboard PCI-e v1.1 compliant? My 8800GT would not work in a PCI-e x16 v1.0 slot, even though the card said it was backwards compatiable.
