Got some new blades for my jigsaw, so it will be quick to build the second cabinet. I made the first one with handsaw. Right now, im just waiting for my litle girl to sleep, and then im back in business with the project.

Edit:

Shit happens when u are outside in the dark using a jigsaw, and wearing a headlight. Got all the pieces cut out and i thought things went alright. When i started to screw it all togetter i realised that the sidepanels wasnt 90 degrees and also to long in width. Thought i could force it into place but that could not be done. So i had to take out all screwes and do a remeasuring. The sidepanels had up to 9mm margin of error. So i need to cut off some more, and also do a some light adjustments to get this fixed. What the hell was i doing?? lol...

Well, atleast the parts werent to short. That would have been catastrophic. As long as errors are fixable im happy..

Yeah the problems with jigsaws is the blade bend so they don't make 90 degree edges on your cuts. Especialy on thicker wood stock.

Looking good

Thanks.

Nice to see that it lined up with the back panel on. I was a bit confused when I saw daylight between the angle and the wood.

Yeah, i had a bit of a struggle with last cabinet, but managed to force it to 90 degree angle when i screwed on the back plate.

this is amazing wish i had your skills mate

Im sooo getting a good tablesaw, when we buy us a house w/garage or big basement. :-)

Been with my girl to the kindergarden, so now im gonna have a quick nap before i start sanding both cabinets. Also, i need to add alitle more levelling compound on some spots. Then alitle more sanding before i start painting.

Done with the levelling compound. All looks good right now, so next part will be to use my sanding machine and sand it down a bit. Gonna get the first stroke with primer tomorrow and i will make the two doors and sand them down aswell. Going to pick up some more primer and regular paint, just incase i run empty.

Will upload a few pics after sanding down and adding primer.

Finnished sanding down one of the cabinets. Thank god i got a sanding machine, dustmask and protective eyeglasses. Still getting some dust in my lungs and eyes.

That is one insanely awesome drive! Can't wait for the desk to come together.

Was thinking about an internal, but i dont use optical drives that often. This drive has pretty nice specs for an external one, and i can use it on lap tops thats hasnt got a dvd/blue r.

Just got back home from the hardware store. Bought some more paint, wood for the doors and some steel for stiffen up the doors a bit.

Doors are cut out, but need to be filed down a bit for a good fit. Project will be set on hold a few days, because of me working nightshifts. Gonna order cable extensions, and one more radgrill tonight. Got one week holliday from next weekend, so there will not be done anything in that period. Continuing again 7th october.

Have a nice weekend all.

I try to do it when she's at work :-)

She says that i am a power, giga super nerd. I dont hear she say that when she needs help or when she wants to use my main pc.

Atleast she is positive about this desk i am creating, so hopefully no moaning.

How much did the paint for this work of art cost you?

Maybe around 100£. The wood is alot more xpensive. Think il end up with 200£ in wood materials. Could have gotten cheaper woodplates but i want a solid desk

.

Going to order some black sleeving and heatshrink and sleeve audio, usb and system cables. I almost finnished the first cabinet this morning. Just need alitle sanding and a few rounds of paint and its done. Will update with some pictures in a few houres.

Using these steel things to stiffen up the doors.

Had to use dremmel first to get right size.

So the door is finaly installed. Using magnets to hold it in. It goes in and out without touching bottom or top, so im really pleased with it.
