It says that he is using a X5550 with a X58 Sabertooth with 6gb Corsair ram and bios 1304.

He removed the 6gb ram and upgraded to 24gb (6x4gb) Kingston and his machine refused to boot. It got to the Windows logo and froze.

I say it will work dude. I'm 99.9% certain tbh.

Man, that sucks

You can go with an AMD cpu but you need to make sure that the motherboard you buy supports SLI. On AMD it's usually a 990 chipset you need though Asrock make one that has a 970 and supports SLI.

But yes, no reason you can't go AMD.

You just get the latest driver online for your specific graphics card, it'll be on the AMD/Nvidia website depending on which made your GPU
