Im just hoping others follow suit :)

And the boards are nice too

I wonder if they will put a variable voltage regulator so it can feed a multi range of voltages from 5v phones up to 18-20V for laptops or will we see phones go up to 20v.

Hopefully this will be implemented into smartphones. We also need sturdier connectors on phones too. Micro USB isn't great.

I just wish manufacturers would just ditch USB 2 and simply use USB 3 on motherboards, case, devices etc etc.

Come on people move forward already... pretty please :D

The problem with that is that you need USB 2 for things like entering the bios and other things that happen before the OS can load and load the USB 3 drivers.

I would love to see someone powering their laptop off of one of these, it'd be hilarious!

Won't be for a long time. It's not just simple as adding more USB 3. Its the case of the onboard CPU/mobo controllers supporting more hubs. The more you add the more space you need to put aside for it.. it's already cramped enough.

USB 3.1 is amazing however. Biggest USB leap in a very long time. We are going from 4.8Gb/sec (600MB/sec) to now 10Gb/sec (1250MB/sec.) That's over double the bandwidth and with added addtions of audio/video support and power delivery.. it's a big deal for the industry. Excited to see it's being adopted early:)
