Monitor advice

Hey everyone,

I'm looking for help on what monitors are out there in terms of the following specs:

27", 2560x1440p, 144Hz and with VA panel.

I do not want IPS, because I've tried several ultrawides (ASUS, DELL/ALIENWARE, ACER) and now I've tried the LG 27GL850 monitor even.

I've come to the realisation that I can't live with the massive IPS bleed that most IPS monitors come with, especially for their massive price tags.

I've been on an DELL S2716DG, which I really liked the design of and it was perfect basically. Although TN isn't the very best when it comes to colours.

So now I'm wondering if you guys know of any VA panel with these specs?... Since VA is better than TN when it comes to colours, but not as good as IPS.

I'm looking for as much of a netrual design as possible, ie trying to stay away from the whole "gamer looking black and red design".

Any advice/recommendations here are highly appreciated!

TN actually can do very good with color. That Dell is known to have really poor or bland color performance. I was recently in the market for a gaming monitor and read and watched every review I could get my hands on which is why I'm familiar with it.

I settled on an Acer Predator Xb272 and love it. The colors are also very good.

VA isn't necessarily better with color, their strength is black levels and contrast which makes the overall image better. VA is the best looking picture IMO but ghosting and bleeding is a problem because VA is a lot slower. I was using a 70 Hz VA panel at 1440 and that was a big reason I went back to TN.

Monitor snobs will forever hate on TN but I've never had a problem with them but then I'm strictly a PC gamer. If you need your monitor for other tasks then I'll agree TN may not be the best.

For gaming check out the Predator line. Asus has a 27" TN that also is reviewed to have excellent color.

TN is fine if it's what you're used to.

It's not a patch on VA but within 30 mins I get used to it.

My VA panel is 70hz and fine for Fallout and slower paced titles but TN is awesome for high refresh rates.

Swift. Its probably one of the best TN panels of all. Just a shame its ASUS (over priced)

I had a swift and it was a good TN but the Gsync module crapped out right after the warranty ran out and Asus wouldn't look after me buy anything other than an Asus find out who has the best warranty support in your country and buy from them.

Won't dispute that. I hear nothing but bad support from them. I took up the issue with my etailer, and they sorted me out perfectly.

Yeah guess I could've been a little less vague lol...

The Asus PG278QR is the one I was talking about. I almost bought that one but Best Buy had my Predator on sale for $450 (regular $600) so I jumped on that instead. But the Asus did have stellar reviews everywhere I could find them.

Maybe VA panels have improved but I tried a VA, a fairly cheap one admittedly, and it was painfully slow. IPS is the best, I had a 30inch Dell, not LED, and it had noticeable backlight bleed but I'm on a 24 LED one now and it is perfect.
