New Monitor time

Hey peeps,

I'm looking to upgrade my monitor and finally go beyond 60hz.

I've been looking at the upcoming 49" ASUS PG49WCD and the 49" Samsung G95SC Odyssey G9

I was leaning towards the Asus as it has the new QD-OLED panel and the 90w type-C with DP.

The Samsung on the other hand has an extra HDMI and is 240hz.

Just want to know your thoughts :)

I wouldn't get the Asus as for whatever reason Asus decided to cap the refresh rate at 144Hz when those panels can actually do 240Hz.

From what I have read the G9 OLED also uses 2nd gen QD-OLED panel, Or at least a more refined 1st gen panel, Not too much info about this, Samsung don't gimp the panel by limiting it to 144Hz so I'd personally go for that.

Yeah as Dicey said go the Sammy OLED also if you want to see some good reviews on those panels check out Monitors Unboxed, also there's new OLED's being announced at CES in Jan so it might be worthwhile waiting just a little bit to see what the offerings are.

Sorry for not replying sooner.

I really appreciate your input :)

I might see what CES 24 reveals.

I'm leaning towards the Samsung out of the two I mentioned, especially as they are offering £250 cashback and they sent me a 15% off voucher which is valid until end of Jan 24. So it gives me a little time to make a decision.
