MMPMM: MadMarc's PowerMac Mod

Very nice progress, and wohoo, lacing! :D

Small tip about that btw.: Depending on how your cables will be bent (or if) and how tight you
lace them, it might be easier to only do the lacing once it's all inside and mounted, then you
can lace the bends right into the cable runs. It also depends on how many wires you have
in your wire package though, but I just thought I'd mention it. ;)

Absolutely gorgeous build, really looking forward to seeing this continue!
Subbed.

Thanks dude! I'll soon be able to put some hardware in the case.

I love this idea, I love this build too. Really motivates me to finally finish my case.

Thank you, yeah other build are always a great motivation to continue a project.

Lovely casemod!

Thanks man!!

Thanks for the tip, I'll see how it works, unfortunately I can't really access the cable once they're in place.

Very nice and interesting mod, I own a G5 myself as well, using it as a night stand at the moment (it's quite a nice design and very sturdy, it's ideal!)

All the cables are now laced (actually my mum did most of work as I'm completely usless with needle and thread, and although she knows nothing about computers she's usually quite exited about my projects :) )

But as nice as my cables looked now, getting them behind the mainboardtray without having a removable sidepanel turned out even more difficult than I thought.

Therefore I had to pick up some cable management stuff from MDPC

With these cambleclips the back of the mb tray tured out rather tidy:

Hehe, that's pretty cool of her.

Sorry for the lack of updates guys, but although the rig has been done since only a few days after my last post, it wasn't really finished (and still isn't).
Since it's only a small thing that's missing and the weather was really nice today, I decided to finally finish the first part of this build log.

First some of the pics from when I put the rig together:

Ready to move into a new home:

Bye bye BeQuiet cooler, I'll miss you :(

Hello Stock cooler

The only thing that's missing is a black 0.6m sata cable with both straight connectors, which as it turned out is impossible to get in Switzerland. The only cables available are 0.5m and 1m....and mostly red.
So I decided to wait until I get a new mainboard with hopefull straight cables included.

Now to the pretty shots:

Updated rig specs:

CPU: 2500k

GPU: Asus HD 6970 DCII

MB: Asus P8P67 Evo

RAM: Corsair Vengeance Blue 8GB

SSD: Samsung 840 EVO 250GB

Soundcard: Asus Xonar D2X

PSU: Seasonic X-660 w/ paracord sleeving

Case: Custom PowerMac G5

That looks goooooood :)

Thanks man!

Great job, looks sweet! The stock intel cooler in a case that pretty is REALLY funny looking. :D

Thank you, the other cooler didn't fit and I plan to watercool the rig later this year, so it wasn't worth getting a new one.

Its gotta be said, despite all of my apple hate, that is one beautiful case

There are also a few things that I hate about Apple but they definitely know how to design and build beatiful devices.

thats really really really! nice :D
the only only only things i can fault is the gpu droop ... not your fault so cant complain about that and the Zonar having ASUS the wrong way around lol.
i love the metal finish :D if i could get that in black i think id be modding the exterior of my case very soon lol

Now that has turned out very nice indeed IMHO, definitely
looking forward to the watercooling stage of this project.

And yeah, weather's been pretty nice here lately, took the
opportunity to go for a 4.5 h hike with my dog on Sunday. :D
