Microsoft will not support upcoming CPUs on Windows 7 or 8.1

If you bought a Bugatti Veyron would you run it on old leaded fuel?

TBF, with the right mods, there would be some gains in that.

As for the whole not switching, like XP, Windows 7 works and for that reason people will stick with it. I don't want to disturb the little ecosystem which is solidworks on my main rig, it was hard enough getting it to co-operate with 8.1, I see no reason to risk the downtime of switching to 10 on my existing rig.

My new rigs (Lightning included) I will install 10 on, my laptop I will keep on 8.1 although really I wish it was still on 8.0. Adding the start button to appease the metro haters was futile and I resent that decision, metro was fine even with a mouse.

Why? why on earth would you want to run cutting edge modern hardware on a ten year old operating system?
Because it works for me?

That said I do hate seven with a passion. I have no regrets about buying 8.1 when it came out, despite running 7.

To use the car comparison. 10 is alot like owning a Range Rover. It works utterly fine for some people (who will then go on to defend it forever) but others prefer their 15 year old Toyota Landcruiser. Yes, it is not comfortable and its incredibly slow but unlike the Range Rover, it hasn't broken down every time you go to use it. People like what works for them.

TBH if you want the fastest OS you'd run linux. IIRC, 8.1 isn't any slower than 10 anyway?

It's simple why should we be pushed to something we don't want as i have said it should be a choice, Dude you're not going to change my Opinion or Point of View on this.

I don't care if I change your opinion dude I just totally don't agree with it.

At all.

But whatever man, enjoy your OS.

Because it works for me?

That I understand but most people say that and haven't even tried 10.

*IF* in a very rare example 10 did not work at all then I could accept that logic.

That's fine i'm not going to change you're opinion dude, I just don't agree with what you're saying is all.

"Agree to Disagree"

It's OK dude I can wait :)

I await when M$ give out Windows 25 for free and you arguing that Win 10 is the best and how you don't want to upgrade :D

None of that matters though. As soon as some DX12 comes out you'll be on 10 like a ferret down a rabbit hole :p

:banghead: How have you missed the multiple times people (and microsoft themselves) have said its a free for life upgrade. I'm pretty sure you've been told it on here before as well...

Well I know that members on here as said otherwise...

If you haven't upgraded I'd say do it within the next 7 months before you lose the ability to get it for free.

As for the privacy thing? go put on your finfoil hat dude it sounds like you need it.

That is a different thing dude... Regarding the Bugatti Veyron, it's not like you HAVE a choice to choose an older fuel, can you?. I use whatever is in the stations.

But with an OS, it's an entirely different matter. So I don't see how that relates to the issue.

And no need to be like that bud, no need to get hostile here.

Just because I like my privacy, for number of reasons, doesn't mean I have anything to hide. It's the nature of being a human being, to want your privacy, especially from a big corporation like Microsoft.
Who quite frankly, as no business or need of any information regarding my privacy or private life.

Hence the word of "PC = Personal Computer".

Sounds to me more like you're actually trying to get your voice across and make us change our minds. And that is what I don't like, people trying to change how I think about something.

That I understand and the simple answer to that, atleast for me and somewhat what Barnsley have already said too, it works for me. And from what I've heard regarding all the hassle over installing and using Windows 10, I'm just not ready for it. Specially, since 8.1 still works, just fine, for me :)

Thank you and have a pleasant day! :)

If you were that anal about your privacy you would not even own a computer, phone or tablet.

As soon as you do people start collecting your information.

Years ago I bought an Android tablet (2010 or so IIRC) and I dropped it shortly after. Any way, four years later I bought another one and it had kept all of my payment details and credit card info.

That's just what happens dude. You're here criticizing Windows for privacy yet you probably have a Steam account, Origin account etc. All of those companies have your private details and many of them have been hacked, putting your private details in the hands of any one.

Do you also own a PS4?

Your data isn't safe anywhere, with any one. You either accept that and take the risks (minimizing them as much as you can) or you simply don't use the software.

But going on about Windows after all of the major hacks/credit card leaks we've seen over the past few years is hilarious.

I see you asked yesterday if it was safe to view a Twitter page? do you have Twitter? they have your details too !

The only information I put on those is my email adress and name. I never put out my credit card statement or anything related to that.

Well, in the world we live in today, it's pretty hard not to live with stuff like that... Wouldn't you say?.

Well with Origin and Steam, again, I don't put everything about me on them. I barely have anything personal on them. Plus, from what I've seen, Microsoft actually changes what you have manually set your privacy settings to, without even saying so. That is not cool...

No, I don't own an console at all... I have a PC, it's all I need :)

No they don't my friend. Cause I don't use Twitter and never will, cause I've never understood the purpose of Twitter! :)

So you never shop online, don't own a Steam account (so don't play games) nor an Origin account etc?

I do yes... But on for example pages and companies that I "trust" more than a company I never really have had ANY direct contact with.

I do own a Steam account and an Origin account, which I also mentioned I did.
If you read my previous post, I've written everything down there... Including an answer to this post of yours.

Or "Stubborn people with hypocritical reasons" thread.

Or "Trying to convince people of their own views" thread.

Most LOLably the companies you say you trust have been bent over and reamed.

I would accept your views and opinions if they were not completely hindered by BS and hypocrisy, dude.

For example you have a Paypal account. That means that not only have you given them all of your information (personal details, address, bank information and so on) you have also agreed to their terms meaning that they can simply take money from your bank account at any time for any reason.

Every one thought their Playstation accounts were safe. Turns out they were wrong, got hacked, pwned, info out all over the place.

Like I said if you were that anal about your privacy you would still be using a typewriter in a room surrounded by lead.

I'm not here to cause an arguement or so, I'm simply trying to put what you say in a different perspective.

You don't even know which or what companies I actually buy from, do you? :)

I do have an PayPal account and again, I haven't putted everything on there. Everything is written with names etc yes, but not entirely true that either.

They can't take money from my bank account at any time, for any reason. That would be stealing, no matter what their terms are. If I haven't agreed for them to take my money for a specific reason, that is stealing, which is a crime. No matter what you will try to say to me, in the simplest of terms, that is stealing.

But on topic of your post... Yeah that is true, but none that is related to me. Again, as I also mentioned in a previous post. I don't own an console and never will :)

And as I also mentioned in my previous post... It's hard to live in todays world and society without these things around you. And yes, I may not like and agree with it all, especially regarding privacy. And I do try and keep everything at a minimum, but some things I just simply don't care about... Since everything is still reachable on the internet. Wether you like it or not.

It doesn't even have to be from your end... you can go back and live in the stone age if you want. Hospitals, police force, schools whatever, they all have some information from you, from the day you were born, and that all can be leaked/stolen.

So no matter how "anal" I am about privacy... You can never be truly private, from your own end. End of story.

Now, I may actually try Windows 10 soon... When I'm switching cases.
So... what is the PROPER way of doing things, to minimse any risk of something backfarting on you?.

You don't even know which or what companies I actually buy from, do you? :)

Ignoring the rest of what you said because it's hypocritical (I'm not being nasty it just blatantly is) And because everything you are saying comes back to what I have quoted above...

It doesn't matter what companies you buy from, dude. All of them have secure information that can be hacked. Nothing is impenetrable, nothing is safe.

The moment you choose to input your details your argument becomes lost, dude.

As I said before if you really are that anal with your personal information then you should be using a typewriter in a room surrounded by lead (IE a real actual firewall not a hardware/software one).

You choose to entrust people with your personal information then you say you don't trust Microsoft. Why? how many times in history have Microsoft been hacked? how many examples can you show me where they were compromised and personal details were leaked/lost?

Hilariously you do all of that sitting on your PC being broadcast to the world by..... A Microsoft operating system

Windows 10 is no better or worse than any other OS they have made.

Me? I'm about as paranoid as a person can be without being sectioned. I have three bank accounts. One for savings that I can't access without tremendous difficulty (because I have not activated it online and any cards or cheque books are held by a family member who lives miles away) One that I use for other savings that I can access online and one as my main online account.

I have phoned the bank and made sure that there is no overdraft on the account. I make sure that the only money in the account could be lost without hurting me in any way (for example only keeping £70 in there for 99% of the time just incase I fancy buying something) so that Paypal can not reverse a decision leaving me with fines and fees from my bank.

And that's about all I can do and I accept that my personal information is not safe anywhere. I don't have a Facebook account any more and contacted them to make sure it was completely deleted and the only other account I have is Google (fake information) so that I can comment on Youtube videos that my step kids upload (they do a VLOG) and Twitter, again so I can keep up with my step kids and comment on their stuff. And again, false name etc.

But even to me you sound ridiculously paranoid.

I do have to agree with AlienALX though as why would you buy top of the line hardware and run an OS that can't utilize it all ?

To me that is an immense waste of money, It's like buying a Lamborghini and never going over 30MPH ^_^
