;890404 said:I do have to agree with AlienALX though as why would you buy top of the line hardware and run an OS that can't utilize it all ?
To me that is an immense waste of money, It's like buying a Lamborghini and never going over 30MPH ^_^

Only if your willing to W8.1 by the G8.1. Would hate to be L8.1 M8.1.
pretty funny that you mention why to buy "cutting edge tech" if you cant utilise it.. well maybe cause they just dont lol?
Imo its a pretty funny thing, you force people to a newer OS saying that it "might utilise it better" even though they can utilise it for the older OS too. They just wont do it while they actually can.
Saying that they can focus more on w10 now is like McDonalds stopping with nuggets and focusing more on hamburgers..
Microsoft has more than enough budget to support both. They're just playing their monopoly game and forcing everyone, because they can and thats what sucks big time.
Companies are taking more and more freedom of choice from us and we just keep silent.. In time we cant even choose our own ****ing screen because it wont support our "older graphics card"
You cant choose your keyboard cause it wont support this usb type
you cant choose your own graphics card because it wont support this motherboard because windows 10 doesnt support it..
and so on...
And even than, just how much % of every one FULLY utilises his pc? There is only a small percentage of us enthusiasts so than again, why use w10 if an older OS works just as good or better with the config those people have and most of the time, people buy that what they think they need, not what they really need.

Chrazey is using a I7, IIRC. 4790k was it?

Have a read of that. Basically Windows 7 does not support more than 4 cores so you have to hack it in order to make use of HT properly. That is not a fix, nor will it all of a sudden make Windows 7 support an I7 correctly.
So my point remains. Why in the name of all that is holy use an OS that does not work with your computer properly?
Why?
Why would you knowingly pay a huge chunk of extra money for an I7 when you can't use it properly?
Would you buy two graphics cards if the OS limited you to using one? of course you wouldn't !
So basically he is cutting off his nose to spite his face by refusing to update to Windows 10.
I really, truly, can not put it any more simply than that !
Please feel free to R8 my analogyThis should be named the bad analogy thread
We're talking about something that isn't out yet - upcoming CPU's - not working on a platform that is already EOL.
It's more like complaining about console backwards compatibility and that your Playstation One games don't play on your PS4. (they look rubbish anyway)
Nobody is forcing you to upgrade to Win 10 if you keep the platform you have now.
Yes MS have money. Yes they could afford to spend the resources and money on legacy products but they want more money and profit for shareholders and themselves. It's how the world works. Any publicly listed company will try to maximize profit and you do this by not developing on superseded operating systems for future chips.
It's never been a case of one O.S for (your) lifetime and unlimited upgrades. (with the possible exception of Linux/Ubuntu etc as I've no knowledge of those)
Everyone jumped on STALKER for moaning about Nvidia not bringing DX12 to a 400 series card. Surely this is a similar thing? There has to be a time to let go of legacy product support which is all this is.
Please feel free to R8 my analogy![]()
I'm starting to think that some people in this thread must work for Microsoft they way they just keep pushing it

I'm wondering if this will apply to Win7 Enterprise as well?
We are slow to evolve there but our workstations are updated every 2 years. Now when Kaby comes out if we're still on 7 enterprise it could cause issues. We only migrated from XP in the last five years.
Larger corporations are tied to custom software platforms so it's not as simple as updating a home or small business environment.
