Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain PC VS PS4 Screenshot Comparison

The PS4 isn't really all that far behind the PC when it comes to visuals in a lot of places, No doubt this will be running at 30FPS though which is just horrible.

it isn't running at 30, the PS4 version is 1080p 60FPS.

the only versions that are not made for 60 fps is the ps3 and Xbox 360 versions. both of those are also 720p.

PC - Subjective FPS & Resolution (you could play it at 4K if you have the hardware, admit it!)
PS4 - 1080p 60FPS
Xbox One - 900p 60FPS
PS3 - 720P 30FPS
XB360 - 720P 30FPS

I have linked my old article on resolution and framerate in this article.

It is here is you missed it.

Interesting, That's quite a gap between the XB1 and PS4 then, Didn't realize the XB1 was that far behind the PS4.

and the fact that the ps4 had 50% more gpu cores.

Yep, Something I can't for the life of me figure out why MS went that route considering the GPU in both systems is made by the same company yet they went with 1 that has less performance, Can't be to do with cost surely as both consoles cost roughly the same.

Microsoft made the die size massive by adding the Xbox One's ESRAM, which was one of the reasons why the Xbox 360 was better than the PS3.

Sony used this space to add more GPU and used GDDR5 to make up for the lack of bandwidth of the esram.

the ESRAM is faster than GDDR5, but 8GB of GDDR5 is better than 100 or so meg of ESRAM and 8GB of DDR3.

the consoles have roughly the same die size/ apu cost.

So in other words MS buggered up ^_^

My bad

I don't like the idea of this pay ware crap though thats been mentioned.

Yeah the fact that Multiplayer is locked behind a pay wall is just greed gone to a whole new level, I know you can unlock it with ingame currency but my bet is that will take quite a long time.

That was called out as a lie.
In an official statement sent to PC Gamer, Konami has dismissed these claims as "simply not true."
Here's Konami's full statement:
"Gamespot posted an article following the review that the PVP (FOB) mode in MGSV TPP will be restricted behind a micro-transaction paywall and that is simply not true. The FOB mode will be fully accessible at launch and the micro-transaction layer to that specific feature in the game primarily acts as an accelerator. We’ll have more details at launch, but we did try and clear these rumours up when they started circulating during E3. We even addressed this in our official E3 2015 demo when it went live during that show."

Its pretty much a pay for levels thing.

You are right, the multiplayer isn't behind a pay wall, but you can buy resources and otherwise save time by spending real money on it.

This is still a horrible practice, as you don't put in a premium currency if you don't ant people to spend money on it. it has no doubt made the mode take much longer to earn stuff and has made it more of a timesink.

Xbox 360 was weaker than the PS3. It was just easier to program for the 360 which is why many non exclusive games looked better. On exclusive games though.. damn ps3 trounced the 360.

Current consoles, the GPUs and CPUs are actually seperated. It's more of two 4 core CPUs being combined with the GPU being off to the side.

Thats a ps4, but xbone is the same(slightly tweaked) iirc. The ESRAM combined with DDR3 is faster than GDDR5, but barely and add the fact it is only 32MB, it doesn't change much compared to a full 8GB of GDDR5. The DDR3 in the One really slows everything down. Considering the PS4 doesn't have to wait on the ESRAM, The 176GB/s is 2.5x more bandwitdth than Xbone.
