Memorial pics of my Pentium.

So.. my old Pentium P55C MMX 200 Mhz died. It died as I booted an old rig, i think the motherboard killed it somehow. I just thought I would share the pictures I took of it as I think they turned out really good, hope you like them! ^_^

Naah not really what I was planning. Might make a key chain out of it but I'm not sure what I should do with the pins x) Any ideas?

The two things I can think of are cutting them off/filing them down, or alternatively encasing
them in resin like one of those fossil insects that has been preserved in amber.

Resin would be the best thing.. do it slowly and in thin layers over a period of a few days to let it set properly and transparent..

Pretty nifty :)

Yeah I think it would look pretty awesome if done right. Practice on something else first if you
need (I certainly would; not experienced with the stuff). When it's done, polish it to be nice
and shiny.

I remember lusting after one of those but they were terribly expensive.

In the end I settled for a 166 non MMX. I just couldn't justify spending three weeks wages on a CPU that only had two games that supported MMX. One was MDK and I forget the other but it was some sort of racing game.

No way, don't cut them off, that would be a crime. That'd be like somebody cutting your you-know-what off your dead body.

I would probably just leave them the way they are, but if you carry it in your pocket, and you're bothered by the pins poking your leg, I guess the resin idea is OK, too.

I never said I would consider that option as a good one, it's just one that came to my mind.
Many things come to my mind that definitely should never find their way into the real world

The resin thingy would be pretty cool but hard to perfect :/ I'm not really in to the cutting-of-pins idea. The coolest thing I could do whit it is to mod it in to a case, as a power button or just a case badge with the rigs name on it. I could also mod it so the rig started as you touch it, not press but touch, would be really nice but I'm not sure if the IHS is conductive :p

Yes, resin is not exactly easy to work with for a beginner I've been told by some people with
experience. You'd probably have to do quite some practicing first.

The power button idea sounds pretty cool. Considering that materials which conduct heat
very well (and I would hope the IHS is made from such a material) are usually also good
electrical conductors I think your chances are pretty good on that one.

I once saw a lapping guide using a 2600k and that IHS was made from copper.
