Massive msi gtx hawk problem

Which cooler did you plan on using dude?

I would imagine Tom doesn't like it due to its overclocking prowess. However, unless you can cram a Noctua 14 in there I would imagine that won't really matter. Heat is also going to be your enemy seeing as you want to shoehorn high performance gear into a tiny case.

chill with the posting source.

yes you are going to struggle with the mobo and the size of the componants, but you would of looked at these prior to choosing these parts no?

i would have a rethink on the mobo, the p6t is good mobo as is the P6X58D

in the case maybe, but we are talking about the motherboard no?

space meaning the PCI slots themselves and the socket and RAM sockets

ohhh welll tom had the gene and he had the d14 on it + a 5870 im just wondering which would clock better the gene 3 or the formula 3?

Eh? if you have a Silverstone Raven why are you so hell bent on putting in a toy motherboard?

I thought you were using some small alu micro affair?

tbh i wanted a real good performance system no higher then $2400 the gene sound good but when the formula came I was thinking bout it then tom says its bad, so its either the rampage 2 extreme or the formula

tom whatcha think about the rampage 2 extreme? yeah I did think about it and theres absolutley no point in having a matx board so no gene any more:)

Haha. It means you like putting small things in large places

lol I honestly thought at one stage that the gene would be the board that I wanted, i bought my case first so i wasnt concerned any of yous have an opiniion of the rampage 3 formula against the rampage 2 extreme?

I think you will find that the opinion here is wide spread dude. Small boards are not really for overclockers and gamers. They are for things like Dellienwares.

They are also over priced for what they are because they are a niche item. Meaning not as many are made, not as many are sold and so you are paying a premium.

And you are paying more for less, so it's pretty oxy moronish.

If you have the space (and by jiminny you do, VERY jealous of that chassis) then use it. The board will be spaced out better, offer your cards more breathing room and thus be cooler and happier.

If you have not written off the Thuban 1090T then consider it, the Crosshair IV and some spangly DDR3. It will take you everywhere you want to go, cheaper, and in most cases, faster than a I7 930. It needs gentle coaxing, but not only is *it* cheaper than the I7, so are the boards it goes into.

soz man I already have the 930

and my dominator gt's ive just ordered the 2 msi hawks, ive decided that the gene is definatly not what I want:) thanks all for saving me, the real question now is rampage 3 formula vs rampage 2 extreme becuase they are priced exactly the same here in aus. the rampage 3 extreme isnt cheap and a little to much for me tbh

like i said in my other post the p6x58 looks very god fella,if not then i would just go with the top end asus ROG board
