Mach II strange noise then shutdown?

hi

I have a problem, i was using my computer browsing webpages when i heard this clunk noise which sounded like the compressor.. about a minute later my computer went to shutdown automatically.

I have only had the unit since the start of this year.

I left it for a minute, turned the unit back on again and as i pressed the button i heard the clunk noise again.. now it wont pass 40c to start up.

what do i do now?, what caused this?.. did it overheat? did something go wrong?

i know it is very warm in this room that the computer is in, would that have caused it?

now it says "To slow" on the mach display panel

thanks

Check it is plugged in correctly and that the socket connection hasnt come loose. It could also be possible that u blew the fuse because you tryed to start it up to fast after a shutdown.

it is plugged in correctly, if you mean the main powercable..

and i have been using this little trick i found out by pressing the front case button fast, and it sped up the time counting down so i could boot faster.. the last time i did this was yesterday, so would have that caused it to happen later like it has now?

I cant do anything with it now.. when i turn it on the temperature just wont raise, then after a minute or two the unit just stops and says "To slow" on the LCD panel.

So many problems, how can i fix this?.. if i cant, looks like ive wasted alot of money and go back to air cooling where its safe :(

By speeding up the count your are not allowing the pressure to drop which will reduce the life of the compressor.

Maybe you have reduced it considerably more. Does the mach unit feel hot to the touch on the side panels (fans running too slow and mach overheating causing immediate shut-down?)

What does the display on the mach unit tell you?

Something is not right though, the unit is cutting out for some reason, is the unit running with good temps below zero?

Is the PC still running when it switches off? Are the CPU temps too high (check in BIOS)?

Try reloading the firmware onto the mach unit.

Gollum may be right there could be a leak and not enough gas circulating or the compressor could be knackered from too many cheat starts, or it could be both.

If the compressor is okay - Extreme Prometeia offer a full repair service for £325ish.

If the compressor is knackered - Extreme Prometeia offer a Mach2 GT for £475

If those remedial measures resolve your situation, think how much money you just saved yourself.

Good luck

Hi, well, ive noticed it was very hot behind the unit near the fan before, i havent touched the sides of the unit..

the LCD doesnt say anything, apart from what ive already said when it fails to boot my computer. I cannot even get to boot now because the temp stays around room temp, say 28C.. i watch it, then it jumps to 29c and back to 28 a few times and thats as far as it goes before it just stops trying and gives the "to slow" message.

and nope, the pc isnt running when the compressor goes off, i cant even make a boot.

I will say this though, the other day while looking inside my PC to replace ram, i noticed that the tubing or thermal bus or whatever you want to call it.. there was a bit of ice formed on it? at least thats what i looked like, is that a leak?

is my unit damaged? i really cant afford a new one now, in fact i may not get one again.. at least not for a long time anyway.

I didnt know the cheat starts would lower its lifespan, and as you can imagine i am really annoyed at this :(

thanks for the help though.

Ice forming is a result of leakage or poor insulation or the internal heater is shot it's more likely to be a leak though I am afraid.

The compressor is getting hot because it now has less gas to pump around.

The quick start trick is not mentioned in the manual - therefore it should be considered something u do at your own risk - but if its a leak (as we suspect and Gollum correctly diagnosed) then the compressor will be okay.

So the fact that you can see where the ice build up is, probably means you can identify the leak spot - send an email to EPUK asking phil to consider that you know where the leak is so would a re-gas and repair 'deal' be made - of course this also gives you the opportunity to re-gas to r507.

This is the news nobody wants and I feel your pain my friend - of course if the unit is still under warranty then maybe you can RMA it to be inspected/repaired under the guarantee.

Hi maverik, i am not sure if its still under guarantee.

How do i tell?, i bought it at the start of this year. So how long does the guarantee last exactly?

i would be grateful if you have more information, or should i email phil?, thank you.

Sorry couldnt be arsd reading all the thread where does it frost if the head frosts up then it could just be the control board knackered and the heaters are not comming on if its ese where then could be a leak if you bought it from phil email or ring him to get it inspected :)

just read on the thermal bus it could still be that the insulation has broken down send it to phil if you got it off him for a quote

Hi Shadow, sorry about your problems! The units are covered by a pretty robust 12 month warranty if bought from myself. I have records here if you cant find the details you require about when it was bought etc - tears and abuse to the tubing is NOT covered by the warranty however - so if you have sprung a leak I'm afraid its likely that it will have to be repaired at your cost. The capillary tubing is fairly delicate! You'll need to repackage the unit in the original box and get it shipped over to me for diagnosis.

Hi, well the thermal bus hasnt really been handled roughly.. so i dont know what the problem is. Yeah i bought it off you near enough start of this year, february i think.

How much will it cost to send it over to you and where do i go to do it? post office? lol

thanks for your reply.
