So as I've recently have sold a macbook from Denmark to the UK, I've just found out that the buyer is a false person and I do not have gotten any of the money, yet I've sent it out already which basically means that I've sent it out for free to the person.

I know this is quite late, but the macbook will be sent out today.
We have called the police, but they cant do anything about it as it has left the country already.

It has been delivered to;
Unit 1 Buzzard creek
Industrial Estate,
115 river road.
Barking Essex.
IG11 0EL
London
United Kingdom.

To a person known as;
Adedla A Williams

This has been reported to the police, and they're aware of the problem already.

If you live in london, or nearby, and you can go down to the post office and tell them so they're aware of the problem.
If this helps anything, this is "her" email.
captain.williams6477@yahoo.com

Also they wanted us to send a Westen Union Check to this address:
Address:
106 Drapper Close,
Grays, Essex.
London
RM20 4BJ
United Kingdom.

Thank you a lot.

Why did you send it without recieving payment? Big mistake dude.

I did, well my parents did it through paypal. The only thing that we got information about, was that they had the money depositet and waited for me to prove that I've sent the package. After that I've proved it, they would give me the money that they've deposited.

I guess that was the mistake then. When you dont know who you are dealing with, its important to recieve payment before you send them your stuff. Anyway, I wish you luck with finding the scammer.

What has this got to do with these forums?

If its done through paypal once there is a signed confimation at the other end you will get your money.

I have seen this the deposit email is probably a fake sent from the person you are sending the MacBook to, when I saw about it was from Africa

Well if it's been done via Paypal you have nothing to worry about you'll get your payment, then it's Paypals job to seek the buyer out, also let it be a lesson to all that if your going to ship anything valuable always cover your ass with Tracking, Recorded Delivery and Insurance.

Why did you have to send a Western Union Check for ?

If it's the scam I heard about PayPal will have no knowledge of it. the deposit email would of come from the person buying the item it looks genuine but isn't
I'll see if I can find the thing on it

Why would you go off the information in a deposit "E-Mail", I always check in with Paypal when receiving payments...

Im not entirely sure I have the full story at the moment, however wouldnt you be able to see any pending payments towards your paypal account? Not only that I believe there are warnings everywhere to never post an item, unless you have already received payment, and/or has cleared.

Nonetheless, if you have a tracking number, lodgement receipt or similar, there is still some hope for you to recover the funds.

I had some guy trying it on with me. He brought my iPhone via Buy it now on Ebay and used a fake Paypal template to show that the money has been transferred to my Paypal account but won't be released until the item was shipped with a tracking number.

I contacted Ebay straight away and never bothered sending it. But your case is different. I think you're screwed because it never went through Paypal.

I'm wondering why he had to send something through western union as they are a target for scammers to get money out of your account
