Hello,
I have a MSI X99A sli plus and I'm looking to add a thunderbolt card. I found this list of cards on Thunderbolt's official site : https://thunderbolttechnology.net/p...l&field_prod_tb_version_value_many_to_one=All.
From what I understand, all these are compatible with only certain motherboards.
Question 1 :
Is there a thunderbolt card that could be compatible with my motherboard ?
By looking at Gygabite's GC-Thunderbolt 2 product page and looking through the installation procedure (http://www.gigabyte.fr/products/product-page.aspx?pid=5210#ov), it mentions at one point the card needs to be connected to the GPU's display port out. It also mentions that the other DP in on the card needs to be plugged into a second GPU DP out in order to activate the second Thunderbolt port on the card.
Question 2 :
What's the deal with using GPU's DP ports with this card ? Is it a common procedure with all Thunderbolt cards ? If so, I have a Firepro W4100 2GB with 4 mini DP ports, will that work as well ?
Thanks in advance.
