Looking for a keyboard

http://www.daskeyboard.com/

The best build quality for keyboards is mechanical. I wonder why Illogicaltech hasn't done this yet? Oh that's right, their production is still on keyboards with screens and 50 macro keys.

If you want simple, get the DAS Keyboard, or even check out the Steelseries 6Gv2. The Steelseries isn't really on the thin side though, but I'm pretty sure the DAS is.

if it wasnt 130$ i would totally get the das keyboard

I dont look at my keys anyways and that is rather nice

wrist wrests are fine I am looking for thin, i never said no wrist rest.

it was isku because it said "coming soon"

but yeah I am from the US and you cant find roccat products on amazon and ebay is a little eh. but still i spose ebay is a fine option.

There is the SteelSeries 7G, which is the exact same as the 6Gv2 but with a wrist rest. Someone on this forum said he had one if I remember correctly and said it was the most comfortable keyboard he's owned. It was in another keyboard post

They are around $100 AUD, so about $105 USD? What kind of price range are you looking at? I'm more then happy to help

How is that a simple keyboard? Not to mention it has that gross wave shape that manufacturers deem comfortable.

You mean ergonomic, and by simple I mean it does not have 1000000 G keys and has some good media shortcut keys.

I think in the end of the day sidewinder x4 is the best choice, and it matches my sidewinder x8 mouse

I just feel these G keys are better for when I get into media editing and such not so usefull for gaming as I wont be keeping my hands on the left of my keyboard when I game but i might use them as shortcuts in photoshop and such.

Why don't you have your hands on the left of the keyboard when you game o.O!?

what i mean is i cant just reach over to the g keys on the left as easy as it might look. i keep my fingers on wasd or when i play starcraft 2 q though b and the G keys are very far to the left so I just dont use them. Sure i can but it will just slow me down.

Oh man, you're the exact same as me. I can't stand macro/g keys. I like my keyboards simple.

hating on a company because it has programmable shortcut keys is a bit :S lol

The programmable keys are useful to some, Like my self and useless to others like your self, as megamindstorm101 said he would use the keys for Photoshop shortcuts but are useless for his gaming.

I use the keys for the likes of league of legends, dawn of war/2 and other RTS but whe it comes to FPS its all about the simple WASD config.

The screen is handy to some, just like people like to put a LCD in the front of their case displaying system speeds and temps, I like one in front of me telling me my system vitals as my case sits at my feet.

Any ways back to the topic

Here is a keyboard with mechanical keys. It is said to improve typing a lot once the user gets trained to use it.

Here is a keyboard I came across that I do like the look of a lot "Gigabyte K8100 Aivia Gaming Keyboard" It comes in Black, Red and yellow from what I have seen

Uh, Logitech aren't the only company that do macro keys... I just don't like Logitech. A lot of their gear is overpriced, another reason why I don't like Razer. Not to mention I've had 5 sets of speakers from Logitech and each set has had atleast 1 speaker either DOA, or blow after a weeks used, not loud mind you. The only thing I ever loved by Logitech was their M100, the $20 mouse. I'd even compare that thing to my Xai. I do have a question though, why do you have macro keys for LoL when all the keys are binded in the first place, and there isn't really much need for anymore? Anyway, I never said they didn't have any use, I just said he was like me, and didn't like them being there. I personally find myself pressing the macro keys instead of Ctrl, shift, tab etc. so I can't really use them. I also don't have a use for them, and I do strongly believe there isn't really any benefit to paying the extra dollar for them because there are more then enough keys on a keyboard as it is for gaming. My friends all have keyboards with macro keys, and the only thing they EVER use them for, is to type their passwords into login screens for games. Having the screen on a keyboard saves you pressing a button in a game, having the LCD on the front of your case, saves you opening a program, there's a big difference.

That's the DAS Keyboard, the board I had already suggested and have done for about 5 topics now. We need someone to purchase this king and review it. If it's anything like the Model-M, we could even do a wash test

!

yeah i think im going to get a das ultimate model s. I figured it would make me type slightly faster and stuff
tongue.gif
and its nice and simple, i like the sound even though its loud.

Yeah mechanical keyboards make you sound like a boss. That thing is going to last you years, and like I said earlier, if it's anything like the Model M, you can even put it in a dishwasher and it'll still work

I'm planning to get one next month. It would be the Professional Silent. MX Cherry Blues can get annoying due to the click which is pointless imho.

Not sure if I'll do the dishwasher test tbh. I wouldn't have the courage for that

Well i know you said that you want lights, but any keyboard with lights is going to make a compromise inside the keys, I just bought a steelseries g6 v2 and its the best board I have owned since my old IBM/Cherry died on me, both the steelseries and DAS Keyboard is made with cherry keys. Razer keyboards are crap, I have destroyed 2, same with logitech utterly plastic crap. Oldschool FTW!

Like the reviewer says here.

Sure it's not the prettiest girl at the dance, but she can mambo with the best. In the event of a nuclear explosion the only things left will be cockroaches, and the SteelSeries 6Gv2.

Im telling you that this keyboard can kill people, im sure it will last a very long time unless i spill something in it.

Yeah that's the model I would've got if I went DAS, but I got the 6Gv2 which is the same thing

Agreed. The 6Gv2 & the 7G are heavy and built like a brick. I love it

Actually the 6Gv2 uses MX Cherry Blacks which are linear non-click. The Professional and Ultimate Silent use MX Cherry Browns which are the same ones found on the Zowie Celestia. The normal ones with MX Cherry Blues are the same ones Razer use for the Blackwidow keyboards.

BTW I'm a Blackwidow Ultimate owner so if you have questions on that keyboard feel free to ask.

so we all agree, get any keyboard with cherry keys
tongue.gif

What ever style floats your boat...

I like em simple, which is why i got the SS g6 v2
