On another forum i frequent i am having a debate with a bloke who thinks gears of war on the xbox 360 is one of the prettiest games ever made :rollingla:rollingla:rollingla:rollingla

He hasnt seen crysis on very high with AA and AF on full :)

Well that is more of a slide show than a game though :O

I second that my friend.

The water reflections on Warhead look near enough real. I have a picture of an artists rendition of how the levels in Crysis would look in real life. Its surprising how close we are to the real thing. :)

I'll upload the picture if you're interested. :p

My mate sent it me over Xfire, it looks surprisingly real even though its an obvious render. Lol.

Gears of War just does a good job of being fluid with action. Wouldn't fly any flags for it, but it looks good with action.

GOW2 is supposed to be pretty nice. but still rockin the tried and true unreal engine.

that artist rendering looks just like crysis damn near.

Yup. One frame, then another frame, ......then another frame, ......then another frame...

But each frame itself is absolutely beautiful!! :D

You think that's bad?

I got a mate who think that a 360 has the better graphics over a PC!!

Makes me so angry! lol

Here is the comparison:

9500GT vs PS3's RSX GPU

9500GT= 650mHz/ 28.8GB/sec memory bandwidth

PS3 RSX= 550mHz/ 22.4GB/sec bandwidth

9500GT looks better (on paper), however take note that ALL PS3 games are coded/optimized to run on the RSX GPU.

The Geforce 9800/8800 series would surely beat the PS3.

Errr. Owned much Sony??

:p

Oh and don't forget that the PS3 has better GPU than the 360.

lol, good ol' oblivion with some of the texture mod packs would eat it alive...i don't know what he's talking about...(people who haven't played oblivion on max settings (inc AA +AF) on a pc you really should.

Of course the PS3 gets beaten by newer PC components, the GPU is just a modified 7900.

I will say that the 360's GPU is more advanced than the PS3's though so be careful what you say before scorning people. It's basically an earlier model of the 2900, sort of a pre-cursor. Also remember that the 360 has a dedicated AA engine which basically gives 4 x AA for 'free', the PS3 doesn't have this.

just of topic here can you get good pics like that you have shoon on a stand allon 8800gts ultra.? or a ati x1800xt pci-e 256Meg.?:)

Remember though, with console games they can push hardware right to the limit, with PCs you can;t really as everyone has a different set up, ther is no generic "Gaming PC" so I imagine that is a tough hurdle to overcome, but yeah.. Crysis > GoW2, Halo 3, and dare I say Killzone 2?

A PS3 would normally be connected to a TV, maybe a HD one, 1366x768 or 1280x720. Even less graphical intensive games look better then they really are in that resolution. Worst looking things look better on an HDTV, better ones look worse. All the eye candy gets lost in "translation".

Anyway GoW2 offers a nice gameplay and is acceptable as a package. But I wouldn't go so far as to compare it to some of the most graphically intensive games on the PC.
