I've got to say that's the first time I've ever seen anybody take this stance.

The general consensus is that it's much better to have a thicker rad than more fans. The only time when it would be a problem is if you have a very thick rad like the Monsta, or one with very high fin density, and a poor quality fan which can't produce enough static pressure to effectively cool the rad.

Generally speaking radiator surface area, and therefore thickness, is much more important than having push/pull or not.
