ケイ - Watercooled Enthoo Primo

yea you have come a long way since the first post. great work. even though i am not a fan of the colors, but everyone has preferences right? great work so far.

Yep it's the quintessential gigabyte colour scheme. Problem is, when i come to upgrade the motherboard and processor, top flight gigabyte boards are no longer blue/green. I've seen too many black and..., grey and... and white and... colour schemes so i had to find something different. Navy/blue/green/orange is a novel colour scheme, maybe i should keep the amber fan. Will swap out the orange sata cables for some shorter blue/black ones at some point and i need to suss out how i'm going to sleeve the two sata power connectors that are visible.

I've now finished all of the sleeving that i can do. I need to buy the extra bits to finish the job. EPS finished and the case is near enough rebuilt.

No please don't keep that orange fan, too many colours makes it look old and tacky imo.

I would second that. Especially the transparent frame just sticks out for me. If you can find
something in black/blue (or, failing that, dark grey/black) I think it would look better (or at
least more conforming to my own personal tastes ;)).

But the rest of it is turning out pretty great imho, very nice work. Not only is it something
different for a change, but it's something different done well.

Cheers guys. I agree on the amber fan, was a tongue in cheek comment. :) The scythe S-flex from the bottom radiator will probably end up going up there as it's a very good fan and it is plain old black.

Certainly looks quite good inside with all the case lighting on. The colours are exactly what i was after. Blue tubing, green coolant in the res and blue/green accents.

After reading it back I realise now :) I was so horrified when I first saw it that when I noticed the word 'keep' next to 'amber fan' I had to say something

On a side note (lol) those photos look excellent, beautifully vibrant.

Now to just get rid of that white(or grey, or whatever color it is) fan on the bottom rad and replace it with a black one .

Some more tidying work sorted today. The deepcool and amber fans have moved to less obvious positions, replaced with matching fans that suit the colour scheme. I've taken out all but one of the amber sata cables and replaced them with black. Sadly i haven't got any more in black. I haven't sleeved the cables for the old enermax fan controller yet as i'm not certain about it's fate due to a damaged pot. (making it a 3 channel controller) I'm looking for a suitable replacement alps or bourns part. I need to take it apart and suss out the actual resistance of the pots in there. (will probably replace the lot to ensure it's all the same)

I'm even including a rear panel shot too. Still not perfect, but miles better than it used to be. Once i sort out the fan controller, I can get rid of most of the messy molexes down the bottom right. (7V adaptors)

The master plan for the future:
1. Fix or replace fan controller and sleeve the cables
2. Split fan channels so i can control 2x fans from a single channel (2 channels to control 4 fans for the radiators)
3. Replace 120mm fans with scythe AP-15's
4. Replace 140mm fans with ....?
5. Replace XSPC EX240 with alphacool UT60 <- not sure it'd be worth the expense though?
6. Replace XSPC D5 reservoir with a tube res and separate top
7. Replace corsair PSU with a seasonic gold or platinum
8. Replace ram with matching pair, probably more corsair dominators now i have the space.

 Wow that looks amazing dude.

4. Replace 140mm fans with ....?

Bitfenix Spectre Pro 140s. 'Nuff said. Haven't experienced them in person but on video comparisons they are amazing.

5. Replace XSPC EX240 with alphacool UT60 <- not sure it'd be worth the expense though?

Are they both the same rads (top/bottom)? If so, I wouldn't bother with it, as the only difference in the two (XSPC vs AC) that I know of is the AC is full copper internally, which will save you a few of degrees C, if that much at all.

6. Replace XSPC D5 reservoir with a tube res and separate top

But that would mean losing the magical coolant-color-changing properties of this res. :p

If you do, I'd go with a Bitspower black POM Mod Top, D5 mod kit, and a Bitspower D5 Upgrade Kit 150(includes a pump top-mounted 150 mL res). I know you said you wanted a separate top and res, but I've seen the above combo in other rigs and it looks the danglies.

If you must have the pump and res separate, I'd still go with the Bitspower mod top and D5 mod kit, and get either an EK or Phobya tube res. If you go with the separate tube res, get the EK Uni-holder and mount it to the 2 bottom 5.25 bays, then attach the brackets that come with the res to that, and get a UN designs Z2 bracket to mount the pump to the inner-most 120mm fan on the bottom rad (the one closest to the PSU). Then you can use a length of hose to connect the res to the top-facing port on the pump top. This route is more complicated than the latter one, but both will look good, IMO.

7. Replace corsair PSU with a seasonic gold or platinum

Why? Lol that would just mean having to sleeve all the necessary cables again. Why go to that trouble when you've already done it to this PSU? :headscratch:

if you fix that cable mess on the back i will be happy :)
oh yea, and new fans, these look a bit cheap.
this is pretty much how to build a small sized waterloop lol

Thanks guys.

Can't say i'm all that fond of their appearance though. I'll think on it as i've got plenty of time. Been thinking of going for scythe AP-15's all round and not bothering with any 140mm fans.

The top radiator is 45mm thick and has lower FPI. The XSPC EX is 35mm thick and has very high FPI. Going for a UT60 will reduce the FPI and almost double the thickness. If it will only give me <5 degrees improvement though, I can't see it being worth the £50+ outlay.

The bitspower kit is what i've been looking at. Still not certain how well it would fit though as space is at a premium in such a small case. (not that i really think it's all that small)

True, it does mean redoing some of the sleeving, but paracord is dirt cheap and my corsair psu could be considered practice. The big advantage of going modular for me is that there will be less cables to hide, meaning i can make things much tidier. (which will please seekax  Not that i'd be buying a new psu just for that) Main thing for me is it'd be more efficient and i'd hope that the fan would be much quieter. (the yate loon in my corsair is the loudest component in my system)

It'll get there. It doesn't help that coolermaster didn't give as many cable tying locations on the old usb 2.0 version of the case.

Don't think you are going to get anything better than gentle typhoons on the radiators. I'll be changing the silver/gold fan guards out for black which should improve the look but the fans are definitely staying.

Thanks guys.

oh, couldn't see that, the ugly fan guards covered it up :D yea please switch those

*must please SeekaX* :rollinglaugh:

I've actually also done a practice sleeve job on a PSU and plan on completely redoing
it just to get it right.

(which will please seekax  Not that i'd be buying a new psu just for that)
that is exactly why you would buy a new PSU, either it pleases me or in the trash with it!
nah but i would do the same, it's the little things that won't let you settle, everything must be perfect. i spent hours on my cablemanagement, just to rip it apart in a couple of months lol.

Derp :banghead:. I thought for some reason (from the pic I guess) that the rads you have were the 60mm thick ones from XSPC, but those are the RX series. I remember now. If they didn't have so many different rad series, maybe I could keep up . In that case, I'd say DEFINITELY go for the UT60s. Better performance + being able to run fans at low speed (because of the low FPI) = win in my book. Good luck with the upgrade(s) dude. Can't wait to see the progress :).
