Just read in various places that the 800 maxwell series will be out in February which only leaves 2-3 months to enjoy this card before yet another short lived GPU from Nvidia is launched.
Anyone got any info regarding Maxwell ? If it does indeed come out in February then I might as well get a refund on this card and wait.

Some places say q1 others say early or late q2 of the year. Honestly i have no idea and tbh we know nothing about it so i do not think you should worry just yet.

don't think it will be that early, i did expect a cycle of a year though, february would be a cycle of only 3/4 of a year. but here we are back at the old waiting game, there is always something better just around the corner and before you know it 2 years have passed and you haven't gotten a single thing.

When Maxwell arrives and I don't think it will be for some time, your games will still play just as well as they always have on your 780ti. The 780ti is a fantastic card and will still give good service even when Maxwell is with us.

I also think anyone jumping straight into Maxwell or the AMD counterparts will be making a mistake. I think it will be far better to wait until they have been around for a few months to see what the best options/performance is. Remember the HD 7970, it got off to a slow start and then pulled away from the GTX 680s.

Dude, my advice is to stop being such a consumer, constantly wanting the newest thing, upgrade your card(s) when it/they don't perform as well as you need. Just stick with what you have for a while, even if the 8xx comes out in February... Unless of course you have insane amounts of money then go ahead without a thought :)

+1 it's like Apple fans (I'm a fan of Apple, but not the type to buy every single phone they make at launch, since they hardly ever change).

ah god that's such a hippie thing to say.
Not much on this forum has got to do with needs, it's always a matter of how badly do you want it. i'm not sure if i should be glad or sad to see maxwell release this early, glad because that means the 9xx series will release at just about the right time for star citizen but also sad because this will probably hurt the market, i don't think AMD will have a counterpart any time soon.

Now I've also read that it could late 2014, I think PC's are not the right thing to have as a hobby for me, Too expensive ^_^

and hardware ages ghastly. i guess we are hardware pedophiles.

Haha. I just think it would be much better to stick with the 780 Ti for a long time, it's not like it will be dated and slow anytime soon, then when you next upgrade you'll see a huge improvment which is always nice, saves you money too.

i will definitely not go for an 8xx card, mainly because i got other things planned for next year, but i don't think i will stick longer to my card than 2 years. And this time i can even justify an upgrade! Star Citizen at ultra settings on an oculus rift will be quite the killer. at the moment i use my 770 to run monsters like quake 3 or csgo maxed out at 60+ fps  ah well, the occasional Assetto Corsa or BC2 justifies it i guess.

I guess it depends on how much you use the rig as well, I've used mine for gaming about two hours last week, and that was all yesterday lol.

Didn't you just buy a 780 a few months ago? Seems a bit soon to be buying a 780 Ti to me.

I'd wait for the GTX 880 at-least, you wont notice much difference between the cards if you get every increment between the major releases.

Upgrade when you need to, not just because there are new cards out.
If you just buy new cards just because they are new you will be constantly upgrading.

No offence, but even upgrading from your 780 to a 780 Ti was a bit pointless. Apart from benchmarks do you actually notice any difference in games?

Best thing to do is wait until you can't play the games you play at a decent frame rate then upgrade. Sure it's good to have a card that can do 150 fps in a game but what is the point when you already have a card that can do 100fps? You aren't going to notice the difference physically, it's just a placebo effect.

This is why I find it funny when people argue about the 290x, 780 and Titan performance. The difference is so small that you aren't going to notice it and the only thing you are doing is wasting money trying to get those few FPS extra that you aren't even going to notice.

You get the top card in a range, for gaming, it should last you the next 2 generations.

Unless you give it more demands, the 780ti isn't going to fail any games in the next year since purchase, and still be fantastic the following year.
