Hey!

Basically, I'm getting a new SSD. anyone know an extremely easy and extremely foolproof way of transferring all of my itunes library (including songs, playlists and iphone apps) from my current hard drive to my ssd?

something so easy that all you need to do is copy one file??

i've tried this before, but itunes sucks extremely hard and i always get real nervous lol!

Thanks all! Fire away!!!! x

Just rar/zip your entire music folder, which includes the iTunes folder (has playlists, apps etc) then put it onto something like a back up drive or an external drive.

I think Floola.it is a free utility for simple and efficient management of your iphone and ipod it is small, fast and portable application does not require any installation.its manage music, photos, artworks, podcasts, and smart playlists on your iPod it also allows adding YouTube and MySpace videos with a single click.this is really better then the itunes simple and nice.

Make sure u stop using Itunes when u complete the move

Well the way to transfer files for iTunes in my opinion.

1. Hook up the SSD along with the hard drive and turn on comp

2. Open up iTunes

3. Open up Edit (top left corner, just to the right of file)

4. Open up Preferences.

5. Click the tab called Advanced

6. At the top there's the iTunes media folder location, click change

7. Select a folder in your SSD and press OK.

8. Open up File (Top Left)

9. Go to Library -> Organize Library.

10. Tick the box that says consolidate files and hit OK.

11. Wait as files transfer and done.

*It's actually really simple and I can use fraps and upload a vid on how to do it or step by step photos if you find it too confusing. Just leave a comment here and I'll get back to you.

One thing, I personally don't get why you would want to put your music onto a SSD. Since SSDs are more for boot drives, and your most used programs, and games if you have space. Music, movies and less played games go to the regular hard drives, since the extra speed in accessing them won't do anything. I've got a 2TB Hard drive dedicated to music and iTunes boots up just fine. But if you really want to use an SSD, the guide is above.

EDIT: You should probably check the SSD that all the files are there before deleting them on your hard drive.

Well seen as Steve Jobs doesn't allow you a one time purchase that is bound to the account like most other self respecting online services and likes to format files in such a way they self destruct when transfer is attempted, i suggest you put it on a few CDs first, then in addition to this on to a usb drive/ portable hard drive and maybe even a server too if you have one. The more methods of transfer you use, the less likely you are to have to buy your entire library again and line the pockets of Apple's executives because they are so uber imba with their pricing schemes
