Totally new here, have no idea about overclocking..... 2 questions -

Is it possible?
Is it worth?

Clocking my Intel Core i7 920 @ 2.67GHz

Thankyou for help in advance :)

ummm..
stock is 2.66 with margin of error for fsb speeds you can call it 2.67 so that would be 0% overclock..

Maybe you mean 3.67?

I think he is just saying its 2.6 stock mate.

To the OP:

200x20 for 4GHz can be achieved with the right cooling and motherboard.

Youll need to put a lot of time and effort in learning though because we wont just hand out 'settings'. You have to learn what your system is capable of, especially where its getting on a bit now

Thanks so much for the replies..... would I be better off getting a new chip?

All CPU's will require some effort putting in. Its simpler with the newer generation CPU's but for those of us that call ourselves enthusiasts thats taken a lot of the fun away

The search bar on the forum is often your friend. There was in fact a guide written about overclocking the 920/940 on this forum a long time ago.

920 OC guide

Please remember, that guides are just that. As TTL has said, you need to learn what your chip can do, make sure you have appropriate cooling (Not stock) and you are willing to put in the time to learn as you go.

Any further issues or if you need anything clarifying just ask.

If you have a step D0 CPU, you'll hit 3.8 GHz even with stock voltages.

Just make sure to have a decent mobo and the latest version of the BIOS, as well as a decent cooler
