If you had to pay for a driver updating/finding program?

Which would it be?

I'm after a cheapish one, more reliable than the free ones for getting the latest (reliable) drivers, obviously correct ones for ya know, just having the latest drivers and finding ones for unrecognised software.

This is for repairing customer's pcs not my own :)

Is it really that hard to find drivers for their machines yourself? Surely, if it is a Dell (or similar) just visit Dells site. Problem solved. :)

I've never needed to use one, and I've worked part time as a PC technician for five or six years now. No program will be as good as finding it yourself. It's just a case of identifying the hardware (often physically by looking) and then going to the correct source for those types of drivers. If it's a branded machine, the manufacturer website will have all drivers usually, but not necessarily the latest versions. A lot of manufacturers never update their driver downloads.

hmm i only say that because sometimes certain hardware isnt labelled or whatever.

No matter now, if i cannot find it, drivermax (free) usually gets it for me.

Yeah astra32 is pretty comprehensive. It's good for auditing pcs too.

Be interesting if there's something like the lspci util that the mac & linux/unix machines can use. That identifies everything.
