Ideas for air cooling my PC

Plus that was the GHz 7970, that's got more legs than the than the vanilla 7970, so the difference will be a bit more.

I'd say, if you are building a new machine from scratch, why not add a new GPU, the 290 is about the best bang for your buck, for the extra about £100 the 290x isn't worth a look at.

Since you've used the Luxe before how do you think this cooling config will work?

1x Fan on Back as intake
3x Fans on top as exausts
2x fans on front as intakes

Then my Phanteks CPU fan. (http://pcpartpicker.com/part/phanteks-cpu-cooler-phtc12dx)

220W (!!) AMD 95290349023480 FX thingys, I wouldn't want to run one of those on air. Actually I wouldn't want to run one at all, but that's another story and I will STFU now :D
I've done a build with one that was cooled with air :). Good ol' Noctua top of the range heatsink and fans deal with it very well.

well if your giving the old one to your brother, he is a lucky brother. and your new build is a good system. I would also have probably gone for the heat sink vs aio.
