i7 950 @ 4GHz Temps too high?

I made another thread some days ago about the overclock and temps, but no one answered, so I'll keep it more straight up this time.

I have my i7 950 at 4GHz, 174x23 base clock/multi and CPU volt of 1.28750 in the BIOS.

To me, the temps seem high for a D14.. The case is a RV02.

Test 1, ambient temp around 22-23C

Test 2, ambient temp 19C

Re-seat it? Btw. core 4 has always been a lot cooler than the others, even with different coolers and several re-seats with a Noctua C12P cooler.

I have more BIOS settings, picture of thermal paste before putting the D14 on and idle temps as well, so just ask if you want that info

I've followed that thread before, some things are different on Gigabyte motherboards, the only thing i've found that is so different I couldn't transfer what they did in the Asus bios into my gigabyte bios was the RAM stuff. Thanks for the tip though.

Just tried 200x20, RAM at 1600MHz (System Memory Multiplier at 8). Temps are pretty much the same, 1C hotter on every core, but that is probably just the margin of error with ambient temps and such.

I still read about and test stuff with overclocking and find better settings, so don't worry about that. I just wanna know if my temps seem very off from other D14 setups

Temps are fine for i7-950 @ 4.0ghz.Temp diff are very normal. My watercooled i7-970 has 12c core diff under load.

You may have, whats called a hot chip, they run a little higher on temps, but nothing to worry about.

The gigabyte bios is different in setup compared to asus.Had the same experience, but once you learn the way its build, its quite easy to use.

Did have good use of the mobo manual though

Ok, thanks a lot mate

I'm happy with a 4GHz overclock, don't need anything higher for 24/7.
